Having "Normal" dreams...nothing out of the ordinary...

So lately I've been working on my dream recall. It's been going very well and I've been able to recall at least 2 dreams a night. So three days ago I decided to start attempting DILD (?) I think it is, so I could induce a Lucid. My only problem is that all of my very vivid dreams were...errr...normal...if that makes sense. They were so simple and literally nothing was ut of the ordinary. I was at school, walking thru the halls to my class. Normal. I was asking a friend about a homework assignment. Normal. I went to lunch in the cafeteria. Normal. Is dreaming about something so uninteresting and completely ordinary, normal? It's been days, and I don't know if it's possible to realize I'm dreaming with dreams like this. If anyone could explain, much help would be appreciated

My dreams are normal too. That's why consistent dream signs never really worked for me. What's weird is that I still get DILDs. Yesterday, I had a little extra time to sleep and I had a dream I was standing in my room and I just decided to RC. If anything, you could just practice random RC's throughtout the day. But all in all, I wouldn't worry about it too much, not all dreams will be normal. Trust me.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

Batjac, how vivid are you dreams? Are you able to discern detail in your surroundings, or are you more focused in on yourself. Whenever I have "normal" dreams, there is usually something subtle that makes me question the reality of it. Things are arranged wrong or there are things in rooms that shouldn't be there. A door where there shouldn't be one or one that leads someplace strange. When I dream of work I feel intense frustration or anger... when in reality I'm a very calm and collected person that never expresses anger. These are things that I never used to notice in dreams because I'd be so focused on myself instead of my surroundings, but through training I would start to pick out things that I got "wrong" when dreaming.

I agree with Elucive in doing some genuine reality checks when at school or any other common place that you dream about. Really take in your surroundings and be mindful of how things look. Check how you feel on average. Instead of thinking what to do next, think of how you got where you are. In my experience if you genuinely practice this for a couple of weeks your dreams will become more vivid and you may be able to pick out oddities a little easier.

If you do normal stuff, RC at the normal stuff! Just wait for a bit longer with the DJ. Plus it can't be that bad, I mean, most of my dreams start in my room with me waking up, then doing normal stuff <.<
