      What to do during Day?

I've been feeling a bit distracted recently and not very focused on lucid dreaming and it's shown in my lack of lucid dreams for quite some while. I think my lack of attention during the day might be the cause.

What can I do during the day, or think about during the day, that can help my chances of attaining lucidity during the night time?

How about RCing? Lol that would be a good start. And also, you should stop and look around during that day and ask yourself if this is a dream.

If your still having trouble remembering to do all of this then on the palm of your hand, write with big letters RC so every time you see that, you will remember to RC.
Whenever your thinking, just remember thoughts become things.

You might also want to focus on being aware of your surroundings at all times. Dreams feel a little bit "off" compared to the real world; getting in the habit of remaining aware increases your chances of a DILD.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Well to be perfectly honest, out of all of my lucid dreams (about 8, all DILD's) none of them have come from me doing a reality check. It was just a realization, not even necessarily a dream sign but rather just the situation itself that led to my lucidity. I've tried doing reality checks throughout the day but it hasn't really penetrated into my subconscious.

Even if you never reality check in your dreams, the daytime practice still helps train your mind to recognize the differences between 'awake' and 'asleep.' You could also review your dream journals during the day. Read through some old dreams, review your dream from last night, or plan future dreams. Make yourself familiar with your dreams, so you can recognize them as they are happening. This is why identifying dream signs can be helpful even if you never end up recognizing one in a dream.

Well one of the points is to have it go to your subconscious and do a RC in a dream. But the other point is for you to question reality. Thus THAT getting into your subconscious and you become lucid instantly.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

      Follow Samael's and Robot_Butler's advice.

That's pretty much what I do. Meditation helps too. Not only with awareness, but also with clarity.
