      Technique consistency questions

How important is it to be consistent with attempting one single technique before you switch to another? Would trying different techniques each night actually impede progress? Lemme know what you guys think.

Its a good idea to give a technique a proper chance before ruling it out and moving on. Trying a different technique every single night is proably a bit much. The theory behind a lot of the induction techniques and methods is that they imprint the idea and expectation that you are going to have a lucid dream in your sub-conscious, but diferent techniques do this in different ways and so it can take time for them to be effective.

The MILD technique for example builds up with repetitons, the more nights you practice seeing yourself recognising dream signs and becoming lucid the more powerful it becomes. So just becuase it did't induce a lucid dream on one night where you tried it doesn't mean it isn't having an effect of improving your chances of becoming lucid.

That also means there's nothing wrong with mixing up your techniques a little bit, say you've been practicing the MILD technique all week and then decide to try a WILD one day at the weekend. Your MILD attempts even if they were unsuccesful at the time will actually make it more likely that your WILD will succeed.

I think something Stephen LaBerge said in ETWOLD is my personal lucid dreaming motto:

Experiment, observe and persevere: you will find a way.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.
