Hey tryagain,
I pretty much try WILD every time I go to bed (I just don't trust myself being able to do reality checks in a dream). I chatted with a member here who says he can LD anytime he wants. One thing he suggested is meditation (I guess it's like doing excersise for your mind).
Anyway, I'm still new at the meditation thing, but the following method that I try has helped me 1) fall asleep faster 2) get to experience some of the early stages of WILD (weird imagery, numbness, spinning room, etc). I still haven't had an LD from trying this, but has shown signs of SOMETHING happening. I've also had better recall, but I'm not sure if that's related.
Sleep procedure:

2) Keep eyes closed at all costs, I roll up a hand towel and lay it across my eyes (you'd be suprized at how you might "slip" and open your eyes)
3) Push away any thoughts that you hear in your head - try to make your mind "silent". I've found that - at least my mind - has a certain "pitch" sound that I only hear if it's completely quiet.
4) Be aware of every inch of your body. This is a weird one, but the best way to describe it is to imagine someone running a scanner over your body. Starting at your feet, and slowly "scanning" up to your head. Feel the "scanner" as its lighbeam runs over your legs, torso, arms and all the way up to the top of your head.
5) I've noticed that when I do this correctly, I'll usually feel a tickling kind of sensation right at the top of my forehead - as if some enegry was pushed up there in a ball (but that might be just me).[list]
Anyway, I just keep repeating the scanning over and over. Eventually, I forget everything that's going on. Sometimes one of my arms will "snap" or "jump" out of place. I think that's an early sign of sleep paralysis which, if you could stay consious while slipping into, you should go right into an LD.
Hasn't worked for me yet, but maybe it will for you.
Good Luck!
