If I can't get lucid with this, how can I?

So, in my dream last night I passed a Lucid Dreaming Bookstore and thought "Hmmm, that'd be a pretty cool place to go, I'm interested in that.", then later a cafe for lucid dreamers. I even recognized that the slogan changed for it at second glance and merely thought "Boy, that's weird".

Any tips? I've been kicking myself all day for not getting lucid on that as I don't know how much easier a dreamsign could be.

If you're not really conscious in the dream, you won't recognize anything, including dream signs. You can do RCs without realizing that you're dreaming, too, which is definitely annoying once you wake up. Train yourself to be more aware and really question if you're dreaming, using reality checks only to confirm that you're dreaming. Dreams and reality feel the same if we don't question anything - both feel real, and we go along with the two states. Lucidity comes from stopping this cycle.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Dont worry, this has happened to many people. There have been cases where they were told they were dreaming by the DC's but they did not become lucid. Just keep practicing.

I can not begin to express the number of weird dreams I have had wherein I did not become lucid. It happens. Good luck to you!

I have had conversations with DC friends about lucid dreaming in my dreams without becoming lucid. It happens.

Yeah. I myself had a giant TV on roof saying "you have got first lucid dream" or something, and just replied "Wha- no I haven't!"
      Happens, don't worry 'bout it.
      Lucid dreaming goals:

Fly( ) Tame a recurring wolf that has been in about 10 different dreams/nightmares ( ) Fly on a Night Fury from HTTYD ( ) Ask my subconscious why I have so many nightmares ( )
Fight agent Smith ( ) Ride a huge spider to a battle against a beenest ( ) Face all of my nightmare creatures and beat them ( ) Be a god ( )

You should do a few reality checks every time you see something strange in real life and try to be more aware in real life also, try to spot all the tiniest details in your waking life. Also don't get frustrated, try to be excited to goto bed each night. That's my strategy.
