Don't believe what they say, b/c that is so not true, especially in LDs. In fact, I dream in color every night, & some of my dreams look very realistic.

I always dream in color, I also don't think I have ever had a B&W dream. Strange, why would you dream in B&W when you spend all of your time in a color world?

i agree Seeker, people say we dream in black and white and to dream in colour we are somehow special, i have never had a B&W dream in my entire life (lol) unless i think im in a film noir like The Big Sleep.

Actually dreaming in black and white is normal. Dreaming in color often uses too much of the brains functions and usually is a sign of either a mental illness of some sort or a possible injury to a specific area of the brain. So if you dream in color you should probably get a physical and be sure to tell the doctor that you dream in color, that way he will know that something is wrong and he or she can conduct the necesary tests to find out the problem. Sounds like a lot of you so far have some problems.

Merck, I don't know if you were intending to be serious or not, but that is absolute BS. Everyone that I've ever talked to about this say that they dream in color, at least some of the time.

If you were serious, where did you get that information?

I can imagine the doctors reaction:-

Doctor: What seems to be the problem today?

Me: Doctor, I need help, I dream in colour, can i get a physical to make sure im normal?

Doctor: [phoning asylum] (coughing) Of casue you do, of cause you do......

      Me: Seriously, i need help.

Doctor: I know you do son...help is on the way.

Yea I was just kidding. I figured it was obvious enough that I was full of it that people would know.

I thought we dreamt in B&W then our mind filled in the colours later or something? I'm really unsure about this though.

(10 minutes of research on DV later...)

In history, according to some physiologist before 195. Something there was no mention of dreaming other than black and white. I know from experience that my first LD involved a bull that I wanted to ride (horns and all) and he was a bluish purple in color. I'll never forget that because when I grabbed his thick hair around his neck and got ready to mount him and take a ride, I got scared that maybe this was not a dream and woke up realizing that I was grabbing my dog and it scared the heck out of him. He hasn’t lain in the bed with me until just recently. It takes a dog a wile to forgive but they never forget. I will never forget that purple bull Ether.

I have to agree with seeker. dreaming in clor is no big deal when you live in color!!!!!!!!!
I was curious b/c my boyfriend says he dreams in b/w, i thought it was crazy, but i guess its how you see things dead (b/w) or alive (color).
      who knows???

The best dreams are those with the most vivid and plentiful colors. Completely normal, and awesome. Last time I dreamed in B/W I was about 2/3 years old, and i DO remember parts of those dreams. Dream colors are, in my opinion, better than some real colors in many respects, and primarily because they are far more intense.

Definately not. Heck just having an LD in color is enough proof because you're conscious in the dream. So your mind isn't creating the colors after, since the colors were already in your dreams to begin with. Throughout the day our eyes take in light, and different objects reflect certain colors, our eyes as well as our mind catches that and it is then reproduced in our dreams in a similar form. The only way for someone to truly dream black and white their whole life is if they control it to be that way in LD's, or if they were born completely color blind. Either that or your subconscious is trying to tell you that you need more excitement in your life, so it makes your dreams b&w, lol.
