Has anyone performed a WILD without prior sleep. If so post in here about it!

I have, but I think I was very lucky back when I started due to the fact of my motivation and lack in research, I thought a WILD was performed prior to sleep. strangely, since then then I have had no success with the WILD (although I am working on it).

      How about you?

Unfortunately, for practical purposes, it's just not possible. You can't will yourself out of a sleep cycle just because you really want to have a lucid dream. Sleep just doesn't work that way. And even if you could, your REM periods are very short early in the night, the lucid would last no more than a minute or so. However, long REM periods without prior sleep does occasionally happen. When you wake up in the morning it actually takes a few hours for your REM cycle to reset (this is why early morning naps can produce dreams). Every once in a while, it takes a little longer and hasn't reset by the time you go back to sleep. Thus producing immediate REM. Even so the odds of this occurring on a regular basis are slim to none. If you really can't stand waking up in the middle of the night your best bet is an early morning nap. However the sooner that nap is to when you woke up, the more likely REM will occur.

Thanks for the last tip on napping SystemsLock! when I first started LDing I wasn't slow and precise in my methods and that was ultimately why I didnt know how to truely WILD. I've learned though now that it is nearly impossible to pull off a WILD without prior sleep. thats why i wake up early after some sleep then attempt it (after about 6 hrs of sleep).

I have once. I had taken a nap earlier. The dream quality was terrible and it lasted around 15 seconds. Just wake up in the night it's not that much work. Trying to do it before bed is a waste of time and energy.

nice. I've been doing it at night, or after sleep now. what i was saying though is the only time i did WILD was way back ( strangely my dream quality wasn't bad and I did the most i've ever done lucid in it). since then though i've learned it's a hell of a lot easier to attempt after 4.5 or 6 hours of sleep.

i know you arent supposed to do it this way, but ive had four wilds as i was falling asleep for the night. the first time i wasnt even trying to i was just exhausted and as soon as i closed my eyes, scenes and imagery started popping up and i consciously chose to enter in. other times i started hearing tones from vaguely listening in and then transitioned with very little effort. the best time, i closed my eyes to go to sleep and was immediately diving into a pool of water, realizing it was a dream.

each time was short (1-3 mins) but ive had more luck wilding at bedtime than w/ WBTB, oddly enough.

The main thing people should know is it is possible. But it's far easier to do it after some sleep. But just out right saying you can't makes people want to try.

i think it would help to really tire your body out with some exercise or manual labour for the whole day, then do some stretching/yoga before bed and your body will be easier to put to sleep. as long as you dont just make your body ache too much which can keep you too body conscious. i think this lack of tiring my body out is what makes it really hard for me at the moment. it is completely possible though. there must be some techniques out there for getting yourself to a kind of rem stage without sleep?

I did it once by accident. I went to bed and couldn't sleep and after about 45 minutes I guess I suddenly felt strange and had a spontaneous False Awakening. I walked around my dorm for a few minutes and looked at how everything was out of place. I don't know how I did it and I probably can't replicate it, I guess it was just random chance.
