      Question FILD questions

Ok I tried FIlD for the first time last night. I did Autosuggestion that I'd wake after my dreams and I did, I remembered about 4. I had an alarm set also for a CANWILD but I wasn't in REM while it went off so it didn't work. But I woke up quite a bit during the night (Autosuggestion win) and I figured an early REM period- I fell asleep around 10:50, woke up from a dream at 2, woke up from snouts at 3:56. So I know I have REM sometime in here, and I had a dream between 5 and 6 which 6 is when I have to wake up. So I got a rough draft of some REM schedule, should FIlD be practiced at a later REM time? Or does it matter? I tried last night at one point and I barely moved when an alarm went off, so I started getting black and white HH and I felt my breathing patterns change significantly. How close was I? Any personal experience ?

somebody correct me if im wrong but im sure that with whatever technique youre using, it will be more successful during the later stages of REM. the later stages are generally longer and, in my experiences, produce way more stable dreams than the earlier stages. most people suggest getting at least 5-6 hours of sleep before attempting any sort of WILD. but im not sure how close you were, ive not tried the FILD technique

Yeah i have better luck with FILDing at later REM stages. and because the REM stages are longer, if youre successful, you can chain more together. but the nice part about FILD is that you can try it many times during the night without a big loss in sleep. you might as well try it every time you wake up and remember. the more times you try it, the more your body will know to not move. i never get HI when i FILD; i just wait until i can actually feel my hands moving or vibrations or something. It seems like you were close, and you look well prepared for future attempts. good luck.

I heard that FILDs are shorter if you do it later in the night. How many hours after sleep do you do it? and how many seconds later do you do the RC once FILD is started?

If you have an alarm that will shut off by itself, you can have better control of waking up during a REM cycle. The longer you sleep, the more frequent and longer your REM cycles are. I myself noticed that when I go to sleep at 10, I usually wake up at 3:25 that's about 5.25 hours, in between the 5-6 hour window you are supposed to try it. If you saw HH and your breathing was different I'd say you got closer to a lucid dream.

If you have an Android phone there is an app called "Alarm Clock XTREME (Free)" It let's you set an alarm that will shut off by itself to as low as 5 seconds. The more you can stay still, the faster the transition into the Lucid dream will happen.

I dont know what time in the night I FILD because I cant look at a clock when attempting it. it usually works better when im napping or have slept for a long time though. every time i wake up and remember to LD, I try it. i dont see HI like you do. when i FILD, i wait until i can actually feel my fingers moving or until i feel vibrations before i do an RC. if it works, i open my eyes into my dream bed. this can take from 30 seconds to a minute. if you see images, i guess wait until it becomes a surrounding environment before you RC.

Do you just naturally wake up after dreams and do it? or just whenever you wake up?
what do you mean you wait until you actually feel your fingers moving?
how long did it take you to successfully FILD?

well i had a bit of a break from LDing, but i used to use autosuggestion and do it when i woke up naturally. since then (in the past month), ive been having trouble waking up and not moving. i have started trying to use an alarm clock that dismisses automatically. but i seem to roll over before i even register that an alarm is going off. i still need to work on getting back into LDing shape. now i do it mostly after i DILD so i know that i am waking up and can chain them together. i have a different method also. the tutorials here usually have your fingers do the piano key thing. your fingers dont actually move, but it keeps you focused. i try and pretend that i am rubbing my hands together. i would practice it during the day by rubbing my hands and then imagining the same sensation. when i FILD, i imagine the feeling and eventually i would notice that i am actually rubbing my hands together. then i know i am dreaming. however, sometimes the vibrations come first and then i do an RC. im not sure how long it took me. i originally tried to do regular WILDs or DEILDs with some visualization. then i noticed i was more of a tactile person, so i started to imagine physical sensations more than images. i didnt even know it was a method until after i did it. then the tutorials helped me to perfect it. you sound like you are on the right track though
