      How to "Fall Asleep"?

Okay so this morning (at about 3:30 A.M. Eastern), I began my first attempt at a WILD. I recently began trying this, because I became so fascinated with the Idea of Lucid Dreaming. I have nothing in my Dream Journal, because ever since I became excited with this being possible it seems my recall has vanished. But when I was not focused on LD's, my recall was very vivid. Anyway, I plan on trying to WILD again this coming morning. Except I have a problem, I do not think I can enter Sleep Paraylsis. Last morning, when my alarm woke me up to start the WILD process, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Only a night light was on and I was moving very slowly. I then grabbed a glass of water and hopped back into bed.

This, is where my WILD experience began. I started to count my breaths to relax myself. I got to 100 and by then my whole body was numb. However, I had no HI and it did not feel like I was falling into a deeper sleep. I eventually got tired altered position and went to bed. Was I doing something wrong?

You shouldn't focus on trying to WILD for your first LD, specially because your first WILD, like most people's it's usually horrifying. My first WILD was one of the scariest things ever(You can look in my dream journal entries if you want). Just try a wake back to bed, look at my LD's in my signature, most of them are wake back to bed. Just get up after your alarm wakes you up, do whatever for a few minutes and go back to sleep but with your mind more awake while hoping to LD. It usually works (for me at least).

The WILD is ultimately tough, but if you have the right mind set achieving it is possible. Silverbullet has a valid point maybe coupling a WBTB with a DILD is going to yield a good outcome moreso for a beginner (for DILD though you should make sure your awareness of your surroundings is good in both your waking life and in dreams to insure success). From the looks of your first post and some of the info you have filled out (Ex: LD Count: None -_-) is signifying me that your confidence is low or you seem partially frustrated/ doubtful in yourself. You need to beleive you will have a chance at LDing in order to have a higher chance of success.

BUT if you want to attempt a wild I suggest you stop concentrating so much on getting into SP and also on the anchor technique of breathing. getting to sleep is most important factor of a WILD and that means you need to relax not strain yourself with thoughts on SP or your breathing( or atleast not entirely concentrated on breathing, but maybe be slightly conscious of it).

      Hope that helped! Good luck
