WILD - Phantom Wiggling Freak Out

Most of my LD's have been "dream induced", and they've been great, but not as often as I would like. So I looked into WILD but it just seemed like it would never work for me, I was highly skeptical.

Then recently I watched a WILD tutorial on here of a girl/supermodel laying in bed demonstrating "phantom wiggling". It seemed silly, I had serious doubts, but then again - I also doubted I could learn to have DILD's when I read about it, just seemed to good to be true until it happened.

Anyways, the other night, I woke up in the middle of the night, yet still half asleep (or possibly dreaming?), so just for the hell of it I tried phantom wiggling my arm. And in just a few seconds I could feel it working! I couldn't believe my arm was moving so freely with no effort. Then this incredible feeling/sensation kicked in, I could just tell that I could leap out of my body if I wanted to but that was what freaked me out! It was just so scary, I realized I didn't want to leave my body, so I just went back to sleep. Anyone else freak out like that? I don't know if I was already dreaming or not, it seemed way too real, almost terrifying.

Phantom wiggling is powerful stuff. I've used it twice with success. Lately I haven't been able to catch the moment I wake up so it doesn't work. If you leap out of your body you will be in a dream. You were already dreaming, and it can happen that fast. You can try rolling, standing, turning, floating, or anything.

People try to assign the word "OBE" to these kind of DEILDs but whatever. I think you saw some of Raduga's videos. He has a mostly scientific approach to lucid dreaming or what he calls "the phase." You can read more of his stuff here.

Ok wow, that clears up so much for me, thanks! I was really confused as to whether you were supposed to be dreaming when you noticed it working, or whether people actually left their bodies while awake (as crazy as that sounds).

That leads to an extremely exciting observation that the WILD's seem extremely reality like and vivid with this technique. Usually if I question whether I'm dreaming in a dream (DILD), I can tell instantly, but with this everything was literally a mirror of reality - I could tell no difference other than my fricken arm moving by itself (trailing like in the video) and feeling like I could leap out of my body.

Trust me, once you "leap from your body" you will notice the difference. Try doing a few RCs, touch and feel stuff, make sure you "deepen" the dream as Raduga calls it. You may not even start in your bed, you could be somewhere completely different (For example, a different bed/couch/room).

Everybody's first few WILDs are scary/creepy. You get used to it over time. Usually you're unconscious when you reach that point so when you're actually aware of it happening your mind has no idea how to react to it. Even though you've read about what's supposed to happen actually experiencing it is something completely different. After you've done it a few times you will get used to it and it won't be scary anymore. I've had one or two scary ones since I got used to it, but now I enjoy it when I get creeped out . Grats on your moderate success though! You've done the hardest part, and now you know that it's possible you should be having WILDs in no time!
And yes sometimes when WILDing it's difficult to tell whether you have fallen asleep. Most of your WILDs will probably start out in your bed so it's sometimes difficult to tell when the dream has started. Phantom Wiggling is a really good way to test your state. I know I've had WILDs where I was laying in my dream bed for quite awhile before actually getting up and starting to do things in the dream.

That's interesting how there is a tendency to begin the dream in the same or somewhat similar setting as where you fell asleep.

I believe a few of my other LD's were WILD without realizing it, unless that contradicts the definition of WILDing. But the dreams started out in the same setting as where/how I fell asleep (once at home and the other in my car during work).

The interesting thing about the one I had at home, was it was my apartment, just a hell of a lot nicer and more spacious - and that was actually what tipped me off that I must be dreaming.

It seems like WILD's are full of false awakenings too, due to how they seem to start off and return to that original setting.

This is some really cool stuff though, thanks for the valuable feedback everyone.
