Am I in the dream or not?

This seems to happen a lot to me and I wonder what techniques people use in this situation. I can wild pretty easily now up to the point of not being sure if I am in a dream or still awake. Sometimes I feel a shift in perception, but am not sure if I am in the dream. I might try to do a reality check, but sometimes im not sure if its going to be my dream body or real body. I don't want to move because that might ruin the WILD.

I guess what I am trying to ask is what techniques do you use to get out of body once you are past the SP and are not sure if you are in the dream or not.

One thing I like to do is pretend to move my dream hands or visualize moving my dream hands until scenery pops up, but this doesn't always work. I know I have missed some opportunity to transfer over to the dream consciously by waiting too long to do a reality check.

I generally get many types of hallucinations during the WILDing process. Once I have fully transitioned into the dream, most of the auditory and tactile hallucinations suddenly stop. I often use them to judge my transition. I then simply stand up from my laying position. Just allow that dream scene to form around you on its own. Also, if you are laying in bed and you are looking around the room, you have most likely transitioned. Unless you opened your eyes at some point during the process, everything you see will be behind closed eyes. So, if you are looking at your room, think back, "Did I ever actaully open my eyes or am I seeing through my eyelids?" That should help determine whether you are awake or asleep.

Sure, but I don't want to jack Allen's thread before he has a chance to respond . You can make your own thread or you can PM if you wish .

I'm not an expert but the only time I succesfully jumped from SP to a dream was the only time I actually calmed down, not thinking too much about the SP or the hallucinations I was thinking about the RC's I came to a point on wich I had my eyes open and I told myself "There's no f!"#%$ way I have my eyes open" so I noticed I can move my arms and I tried to move my Wii Remote with jedi powers like and It worked it was pretty much it I was lucid... hope it helps

A classic transition is to imagine yourself rocking back and forth until you roll right out of your body. It doesn't take any actual movement, so it shouldn't ruin your chances. If you do this and it works, walk away from your bed as soon as possible. You don't want to get confused

I like to just imagine myself doing something, and see if it takes over as "real." I might imagine myself out in my garden touching plants and sculptures, or walking through my house opening doors. Anything familiar that doesn't take any real brain power to put together. You can even imagine yourself just standing across the room touching the wall. Anything will work if you are already dreaming.

I agree with the above... visualization and dreaming occur in the same area of the human brain. By visualizing we are virtually dreaming.
