      Post Dild

Hey guys i just read the DILD Tutorial and was just need to clarify.

Would a good way to increase the likelihood of a DILD be to, throughout the day, continue doing reality checks all the time? E.g. whenever I remember, to try and stick my finger through my hand and ask myself "Is this really real?"

Now im off to bed and am going to try a MILD.

The answer is yes, besides keeping a DJ, I'd say that's the most important thing to do in order to become good at DILDs.

The more RCs, the better. But remember to be very aware of your surroundings whilst doing them, if you do them absentmindedly you're kind of missing the point, and losing the benefits of doing them. To take a step further would be to try All Day Awareness. For more information on that, check out King Yoshi's thread on it.

Yea im keeping a DJ. Should I read it over every night before I go to bed?
Ok, i kinda understand what you mean, I do RC's usually throughout the day, but could you please elaborate a little bit on
remember to be very aware of your surroundings whilst doing them, if you do them absentmindedly you're kind of missing the point, and losing the benefits of doing them
      ?
I kind of see what your trying to say, but could you just explain that a little bit more in depth?

You are really over-thinking RC's and DILD's , IMHO. You should be aware of the things you did that day and understand that some of these things will appear in your dreams. RC's should be unique enough that they register in the 'things to be assimilated' during dreaming. Review your day before sleeping and keep in mind that these experiences might be LDT's (Lucid Dream Triggers) in your dream state.

I would say do reality checks as much as you can!, and I think the majority of the posters on this forum will tell you the same, as will any other serious lucid dreamer. Also make a list of when you HAVE to do them, for example: whenever you walk through a door, whenever you enter a car, whenever you see/hear something that surprises you, etc.

That's my opinion. Dream recall is very very important. In fact, dream recall comes FIRST before even attempting any lucid dreaming techniques. I can't stress how important it is, because weak memories of dreams can ruin the whole point of lucid dreaming. I'd say you should be able to vividly recall 2 dreams per night. Keep writing in your journal, and read a couple of past entries every day. My dream recall was extraordinary many years ago, and then it suffered. I am currently working on getting it back to where it was, and day by day I am improving. Here's the formula:

      "Strong will / determination" plus
      "good nutrition" plus
"dream journal / very good recall" plus
"at least 8 hours of sleep per night" plus
      "lack of stress" plus
      "regular reality testing" plus
"increased awareness during the day" equals
      = Lucid Dreaming

That's my formula. And of course, in addition to that, reading lots of material about the topic, and trying the different induction techniques.

Wow thanks! Helps alot. I especially like that bit where you said
make a list of when you HAVE to do them, for example: whenever you walk through a door, whenever you enter a car, whenever you see/hear something that surprises you, etc.
Sounds cool! Ill try it. Maybe any other ideas for when I should do it?
And what would you say be the most effective RC? Atm im mostly doing the finger through the palm one, and saying to myself "Is this really real?".. Is that a good one? And is there on thats "more effective"??

      Thanks heaps in advance
