Awareness of who I am....triggered a lucid dream.

I cleared my mind of thoughts and worries and was constantly self-aware of my breathing and my overall sense of me the person while I was in bed. The breathing was affirming that the breath was mine thereby affirming awareness of the self. I had fleeting daydreams about the self about how I looked...I mean connect with the self through thought imagery. Then I fell asleep and had a lucid dream where I was in my room and turned on the light but the light fail to light up it just flashed intermittently. The first thought was that it was a new lamp but I could not explain Y it had failed and I reached for my digital watch in the room as where I had put it in reality and found I was dreaming. I did not try it again because being depersonalized it takes quite an effort to be the self. So my theory about this is that by being aware of the self I had incubated a dream about the self that of course would include lucid dreaming since it is the dominant practice during the day and well....the desire to lucid dream.

Hm.. interesting. I'm about an hour from going to bed/sleep, I'l try this and tell you how it went for me. I'm trying WBTB later on as well anyway so it's not problem, two tests in one night.

Was this the original goal of your meditation? Or just a happy side effect?

Ok, well I tried to do it last night, but I just fell asleep and had a dream as usual. So a pretty bad night for experimenting overall really. I will try again tonight, and give my feedback.

No it was my intention to be more aware of the self to stable the mind and plus my mind was in a very confused state at the time..I couldn't fall alseep. I haven't been trying to lucid dream for some days.

Well I guess it was just a lucky hit then...thanks for replying... I also remembered that same day I saw and noted a wall light blinking on and off on a building at fixed intervals while I was in the bus and told myself it was kinda odd for it to fail like that. Maybe that went in which could suggest a 'way' to induce triggers from day residue? To spot lights that fail when you are out and about and note it as normal or unusual.

Maybe, but how often each day do you see a blinking, failing light? Not very reliable. I can understand how R.C.s work, and how waking up then falling asleep at the right time can work as well, but what you did makes sense, but it's still funny how it worked. Well I'm about 2 hours away from going to bed, and trying you thing, hopefully I will have more luck with it. Admittedly, last night was in clean sheets, new pjs and had just had a long day and a shower. I did not last long.

Oh well, I tried it, but nothing happened. I concentrated on the feeling of my bed on my back, gravity, my pj's, my breathing, but nothing was happening. Not even S.P. I just eventually fell asleep. I guess this technique just happens to suit people like you.
