      Unhappy Can't recall dreams?

Ugh , I just can't seem to recall any dreams. A few days ago I had a semi-lucid vivid dreams. Before that dream , I haven't recalled any dreams for months , and AFTER that dream I recalled only 1 vivid dream fragment. Can anyone give me any tips or something that might help me? And yes , I did read the dream recall tutorial. The problem is that I can't wake up in the middle of the night. Any help is appreciated!

Answer is simple. Dream journal all the way. Before I even heard of lucid dreaming, I rarely had any dreams at night, maybe one, but I never bothered to remember them.

When I heard about all this, and started my dream journal, on my first night I got 3 solid dreams that I can remember to this day, 3 weeks later. I average 4 dreams a night, with every single one being as vivid, if shorter, than a real memory.

I even remember my first and only lucid back when I was 6,7,8 or 9. So lucid dreams themselves are not easy to forget!

Just think about dreams more often, and concentrate on them. Know they are important, and you will remember them. I did, and now I dream every night.

Dream journal is the best thing you can do. Keep in mind that you always dream.

In lieu of a dream journal you can try a small digital recorder next to your bed. IMHO it is much easier then a journal.

I just started trying to LD 5 days ago or so, before that I haven't recalled a dream in months. Anyhow using all day awareness, meditation, dream and day journals I have improved my recall to 1-2 dreams a night for the past 3 nights. Still not very clear and a bit skippy, but improving by the day. Hope that helps, also when I wake up at night, I just use keywords to help me remember the dream in the morning, or in other words I write a few words down in 15 secs and I am back off to bed.

I recommend you buy a tape recorder or you can use your phone/iphone/ipod ect saves a lot of time.
I am not very knowledgeable about the science of dreaming in general though I think if you woke up after 5 hours or so and soon after go back to bed, you could maybe recall dreams more easily as your awareness rises after you wake up 3 hours or so later. I guess you could practice WBTB.

About the dreaming, I don't know if I am right but it usually works for me.. more or less

I'm trying to be kinda discreet with this whole lucid dreaming thing.....Which won't work if i'd record my voice when I wake up. Let me get you a picture of my morning so you can understand the problem:
My mom wakes me up. If I don't get up in a minute , she comes back. If I don't get up in 30 seconds , she comes back. If I don't get up in 15 seconds , she comes back. And then she just keeps shaking me till I wake up , and then she goes. If i'm not in the kitchen , eating and stuff , she comes back. Then I need to get dressed. If I can't get it done in 5 minutes she comes back. The earliest time I have to write a DJ is in the bus , which is like 40-60 minutes after I wake up , and I only get 15 minutes to write a DJ , and I usually forget many fragments by then.

Interesting situation. I may be able to help. Normally my dream recall is quite good, but there are days when i am completely blank, and this is usually when my mum wakes me up. For some reason, ill remember the dream, then when my mum comes to wake me up i can recall NOTHING. What you need to do is when you wake up or are woken up, wait for a moment and try to recall your dream (closing your eyes will help). Don't force yourself to remember. If still you cant recall anything what i do and this has never failed me is to say to yourself "Don't worry i'm going to remember my dream." You wont believe this but during the day you will recall your dreams and it will shock you. This has worked for me 100% of the time without fail. Ill be doing something in the day and randomly ill remember a dream.

Yup, I agree. Just telling yourself out loud that you will remember does work. It works for me to recall dreams, and it is a useful tool that not many people know about. You can program your brain to do things. Like, remember something at a certain time, to work something out or remember something that is not urgent (this is automatic) or, what we deal with here, programming your dreams.
