      Can't grasp lucidity?

Well , last night I realized I was dreaming , but then something that happened me a few weeks ago happened again: The dream freezed and it was sort of fading out and it was as if it was a picture that I was looking at from afar.... It already happened to me once , and i'd like to know what can I do to actually GRASP the lucidity and turn it into a lucid dream.

      Quotes from my Dream Journal:

"....I was my old teacher Esti and I realized that it's a dream. And then just like a few weeks ago , the dream became a picture and I looked at it from afar and I was like "NONONOO COME ON COME ON LUCIDITY!!! MUST GRASP!" and I can't remember what happened then. I either woke up or the dream just continued and I lost my lucidity."

"...'Oh shit , it's a dream. Wait , now what?' Everything around me suddenly looked so real and highly detailed... I focused and tried to do something... I can't remember what. It didn't work and after a few seconds it just stopped. My dream-ish movie kept rolling."

You don't have any idea of what you want to do when you become lucid, do you? You just think about becoming lucid, then deciding what to do when you're there right? Maybe pick one specific thing you really want to do, be it fly, breath under water, meet someone, etc, and focus on that. Then maybe when you become lucid, you will immediately think of that idea, and do it, thus holding onto your lucidity.

Just a thought, but you know.

Oh I know EXACTLY what I want to do in my lucidity. I even think about it almost every night , yet when the time comes it just slips away from my fingers.

Well... maybe you want it too hard? Maybe thats it. You get too excited and you lose it. Just go "Oh cool, its back again, lets see what we can do now"

When it happened I had a little excitement wave and then the dream started fading and I started going like "OSHITNONONONONON". Perhaps you're right , maybe I AM trying to grasp it too hard. Thanks for the tip!

This happen to me in my first couple of lucid dreams as soon as i noticed i was dreaming the picture started closing like the way a camera lense does when it powers down. Naturally my dreams got longer with practice though. Try to act like your not lucid when u go lucid, remain calm observe your surroundings, then do 1 simple lucid task and call it a day.
