      Question My First FILD

So last night I had my first FILD. It was very brief. So what happened was I did the finger movement thing for around 10 minutes, then, as I continued to do it, I realized I wasn't really moving my fingers. It was like I was moving then in a dream state. Upon this realization, I would snap back into consciousness. Eventually, I went into a lucid. It only lasted a couple of seconds.
So, here's my problem: The FILD has been the most effective method for me so far, but it put me into such a light dream state, that upon becoming lucid, I woke almost immediately.
      Any recommendations?

I know that basic LD stuff but the dream state is so fragile at that point.

Well done on achieving a FILD, I had always thought that it'd be hard, but you've shown that it looks like it'll be easy! I'm going to try it tonight

I think the same principle applies as when trying to WILD, try and keep yourself from getting too excited and slowly acclimatise yourself into the dream by getting out of bed slowly? I haven't pulled off a WILD before, so I wouldn't know, but it sounds reasonable enough haha

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I can't fin anything on FILD from the search button. So what exactly do I do when doing a FILD. I know it's about moving your fingers like playing the piano while keeping the rest of your body still, but how do you move your fingers? Do you move them soo slightly that you can't even see them move but you can feel it? Or do you move your fingers very slowly but still move them up and down?
      Lucid dream goals:
      1. Get into SP /Check
      2. have a long LD
      3: Fly
4: Have some epic battles with my childhood heroes and villians (DBZ)

You move them just enough to retain mental consciousness as you feel your body fall asleep.

It was your first Fild as it happens more often you'll be able to center your self with in the astral dreamscape and enjoy the expeience for longer periods of time. congrats bro. :-) namaste. Keep at it.

what is this centering of the astral plane you speak of and how does one practice it?

Centering yourself with in the astral dreamscape is a another way of saying self stabilization. Before and most certainly after you go lucid the astral dreamscape is a heavily thought driven environment. Firm commands help you control the experience. ex: clarity now, increase lucidity now, extend perception of time now etc. Will power (ex.commands) helps you control yourself with in the astral dreamscape. There are physical ways of stabilizing your environment like spinning and rubbing your hands together but you just have to pick a style that resonates with you best. namaste
