Thread: Am I close to having a lucid dream?

I took a nap and I woke up a few hours later but I didn't get out of my bed. I wasn't even planning to have a lucid dream but when I woke up I was like "Fuck it, it's worth a try" so I tried to imagine me waking up and I kept saying to myself mentally "I will have a lucid dream" and I could have sworn on everything God created I was in a lucid dream. The difference was I had no control over it. My dream was about me waking up in my bed in my room and music was playing, but I changed the song but it felt real. The visualization wasn't so clear and I felt as if it was real...like reality real just a bit blurry and not very much controlled. I been trying to have a lucid dream for the past 4 days. Could this mean I'm getting closer to actually having one?

I define a lucid dream as a dream which you are aware that you're dreaming. If you knew you were dreaming, then you were lucid. There have been people who reported dreams where they knew they were dreaming but couldn't control any of it.

Caretaker's right. Lucidity doesn't necessarily imply control, and vice versa. Even if you don't have any control over your dreams yet, you've still made good progress and had your first lucid dream (or maybe even more, depending on how long you thought lucid dreams meant control)! If you're interested in dream control (which most people are if they want to lucid dream), I would recommend reading some of the stuff in the Dream Control class in the DV Academy. KingYoshi does the class and it's a great resource for beginners who want to learn about dream control.
