Having issues with LDs. How can I make my LDs last long?

I'm having a hard time making my lucids last longer. Once I realize I'm dreaming I become lucid. The main part I'm having trouble with is stabilizing, I never had a chance with having a successful Lucid Dream. I've been having a few LDs lately but I haven't been able to stabilize them. I just wake up. There was only once when I was lucid and it only lasted a few minutes and it was great, but that was it. I get good at changing the contrast in the dream but I fail to attempt to stabilize it to make me explore areas, etc. Let me make it sound easier. When ever I get lucid. I am in lucidity. But when I'm in lucidity the dream only lasts a few seconds. How can I stop this from happening?

Also the main thing I'm curious about is when ever I'm in a LD. A dream character or an object, etc seems to make me lose concentration in the dream. A dream character tries to stop me from having a lucid dream or something like a car with no driver in it tries to hit me while I'm lucid. How can I stop all this and how can I make my self be in control? Sorry if this confuses anyone. I need to know how I can fix all this. And I've been keeping a DJ and been reading over my dreams. I don't get why this keeps happening.

Okay, have you heard about rubbing your hands in your dreams to make it stabilize? Basically you want to stimulate your senses. And touch things around to stay in the dream. Also have you heard about spinning around? The reason why this works is because your mind needs to generate new dream scenery as you spin around and it keeps you in the dream. So try rubbing your hands and spinning around and see if that helps.

Ok I'll try rubbing my hands next time, And the dream spinning. Hopefully I'll get a chance to touch objects and do all the other stuff you mentioned. Hope it'll work. Thanks for the info.

Well these are happening because of you I mean very unconsciously. It is all in your head. You must reevaluate your understanding of LD. When you realise that you are dreaming, you must quickly skip it. Do not overthink the situation. You will get used to it in time and see that it'll become more easy to control.

Sometimes the duration of a lucid dream is dependent on the scenario you find yourself entering into. My longest and most vivid lucid experiences have occurred when I enter a relaxing, or even dull, scenario with few, or even no, DC's to distract me. Sometimes its the luck of the draw. Also , when I get lucid I try to avoid getting my superman mode on as flying has a tendency to wake me up (but i must admit flying is great fun!) Good luck to you...
