      Lucid while "half" dreaming, half-awake?

It's been a week since I started trying to LD again, and I got extremely close last night! But it was weird.

I woke up around 3-4am so I was in REM or however you would say it, and I used the restroom and went back to bed. I don't feel comfortable trying to WILD yet, so I just counted in my head until I fell asleep, "1, I am dreaming. 2, I am dreaming. 3, I am dreaming, etc."

Not soon after that, I somehow found myself shooting lightning from my hands into some kind of stone or something. (Weird, I know. )

Anyway, I realized I was dreaming right away, and it took me by surprise. I told myself firmly, "I am dreaming," then tried to confirm this by looking at my hand. I felt myself bring it up, but saw no hand. My "vision" got extremely unstable and bluish, then I found the dream world fade out and the real world fade in, and I was staring at my "real" hand, right where it should have been when I was dreaming!

So in other words I didn't feel myself bring up my dream hand when trying to RC, I brought up my real hand! How does that work??

Was I just half asleep or something? So close!

      .....

Maybe the dream was ending and you were lucid.

Well, I checked the time and it was only a couple of minutes after trying to go back to bed. Plus, I woke up with my head up and my hand in front of it.

And my eyes were already open, it seems. Since the images just faded in and out with each other.

Wait. ...Was I sleeping with my eyes open?

Thanks for the replies, dudes. I'm just wondering if I should add this to my lucid count or not. Lol. It does give me an indication that I'm getting closer to being back to where I was about a year ago, though. I'm in better health, so I hope to surpass it very soon.

I think I had one of those. I remember looking at a plant full of cobwebs, and as I tried to look around it I woke up; but I was still aware I was in my room. Hard to describe, but I wasn't fully in the dream state.
