How far am I away from my first lucid dream?

Well I've been trying for about 3 or 4 days but I mean absolutely immersing my self in all the theories and knowledge possible, not in a obsessive way or anything but I heard that if you just smother yourself in the whole idea of lucid dreaming the chances of you having one are more likely, so that's what I've been doing. Also I've done 3 nights of trying to induce it via DILD but nothing has worked. And also yesterday, I spent almost 3 hours trying to do the WILD and I got as far as numbness and like curtains and clouds of light but it didn't progress any further than that. I am also keeping a dream journal which I write in every morning, and I can usually remember at least two dreams (one vividly and one a little fuzzy).I've also been doing frequent reality checks but I still haven't even experienced my first one yet. Am I doing anything wrong or is there anything else I could be doing? or do I simply have to be more patient, thanks for your time

Four days is nothing, some people had to wait month or two maybe even more for their first lucid dream, I myself have been waiting for 20 or something days. So yeah you're not doing anything wrong, keep writing your dream journal and doing your reality checks and don't worry about not having an LD yet. Good Luck

Then you're exactly the same as me . When I first found out about LD I also read everything in my sight, but there are no immediate results with this thing, only practice.

Be more patient. But in all honesty, it depends on the person. I read stories here about how people achieve stuff in days, weeks, or months, or even years.

I myself took 4 months to arrive at the first one, after which I took 4 months to get another one, after which it took 6 months to get a third one, after which I got them every month or so, and these days every 2 weeks or so. Though, I see I'm a bit slower than most people here.

Just keep trying. You'll get them eventually.

Don't get discouraged though. Just saying that not everyone has it easy. So don't exactly expect immediate results.

      Good luck on your journey.

Also, if you are interested, DV has a dream journal feature. If you like to share any dreams you have, you can write them up there.

Try hard enough and you might get it the first night.
Got a lot of friends who done that.

There is no such thing as being far away from a lucid dream. Each and every time you fall asleep you are very close to having a lucid dream.

DILD and WILD are the only methods that work for me, and almost every single DILD I had was induced by reality checks. The MILD technique has never ever worked for me. Not once.

This really proves that not all methods work for everyone, seeing how Stephen LaBerge described MILD as his favorite induction technique in his book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" (a book that I recommend to every lucid dreamer btw).

The key to DILD is reality checking, writing in your journal, and READING past journal entries. Being aware of dream signs, etc.

As far as WILDs go, I outlined my personal technique here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/jakobs...hnique-118963/

No, you are doing everything right. I would suggest visualization while in the Theta brainwave state (thats the warm fuzzy feeling you get right before you fall asleep). I honestly believe there is too much emphasis on Sleep Paralysis in these forums.

You'll eventually have one. My first LD as a beginner with poor recall came after about a month of trying. Because of a year of inactivity, I'm still a beginner, but I hope to start having them again soon. Maybe tonight?
The statement below is the truth.

I stumbled on my first LD without knowing what they were. Then I researched them more, and it took another two weeks for my next one. It was on the second attempt I managed with WILDing. So you have to keep at it, and I've heard you're more likely to Lucid Dream if you try and supress the thought at night. Just tell yourself to have one, and eventually you will
Are you asleep and imagining you're reading this or imagining you're asleep and actually reading this?
