The reason the timer worked for you and not most people (in all likelihood) is that you were lucky with the settings the first time you used it. Most people have to spend days/weeks dialing in the intensity and timing to whats right for them. As far as "the best way to attain lucidity" goes statistics are on the side of DILD and DEILD (even though your focusing on fringe methods this tried and true approach might be a place to start). If you're doing a project on it you might want to look into the science dreaming, like lucid aids (choline, B6, melatonin, etc.) and the physio/psych aspect of sleep.

The timer method didn't only worked just once, it worked 5 times in a row in a week at the most and was really reliabe for me actually, but I take a break from it now, because I want to test out other methods. But the timer method itself is not a technique it's just a way to make it easier to DEILD just like WBTB can make it easier to WILD/DILD etc.
I might look into lucid aids like that as well, but I don't want to spend to much money.
      Thanks.

And... I did spend a long time before i found the perfect setting to the timer, but then it was just incredible.
