      FILD/DEILD question xD

So I read a lot of people's experiences and the usual problem is losing focus. Some say to count but others say not to because it keeps you too awake. But I was under the impression that your mind could be as awake as it ever was just as long as you don't move your body. Like no matter what your mind was doing, if your body was "asleep" (meaning successfully not moving) then your brain would fall asleep almost immediately.
      THANKS FOR READING!!

Your post is kind of a little hard to understand but zIll do my best to answer it.

The concept of the WILD and DEILD is to fall asleep while retaining consciousness. What this means is that you trick your body into thinking your mind has gone to sleep. In order to do this though you need to stay conscience. This is hard to do because there will be many temptations to fall asleep. Some people don't like to count because it could make them stay awake. Others may find it to be the perfect anchor. In order to find the best one you need to experiment. Everybody is different. I for exsample use pain as an anchor.

I hope this answered you question.

OHHHH so your BODY has to think your MIND is asleep... Not so much the other way around !

      Thanks for replying!

You almost have the right idea. I would not say that you can think anything while not moving and slip into a dream instantly, since it is not very hard to wake up without moving and remaining awake, if you wanted to. However, not moving is a key part to these techniques since you can enter the dream almost instantly from them. The key is to let your mind slip back into the dream like you never woke up, and certain things that wake you up too much will make the attempt fail. As for counting, I never count, and if I do I am unsuccessful (for FILD, I dont usually DEILD). Moving your fingers should act as an anchor to do a reality check, and counting is an unnecessary way to keep your mind too focused to fall into a dream. Usually what I do is wait around 20 seconds, without counting, and just estimate the time. That way you remember to check but in between you drift off into sleep while your mind is not focused on one thing.

In WILD you sort of trick your body into thinking that you have fallen asleep and go into sleep paralysis and so on, and are able to enter the dream from there.
In DEILD and FILD, you make your body think that you never woke up.

However, your body cannot think, it can only send signals to the brain, so you are not tricking it. Your mind is being tricked into thinking you are asleep from the signals your body is sending out.

You want to barely focus on your fingers. Basically tell yourself that after 20 seconds your are going to do a RC. Don't count to 20 seconds in your head. Your mind may drift off but that is okay. After what feels about 20 seconds do an RC and you will probably be dreaming!

This is how I do it and it never fails. Everyone's different though. Remember, don't count to 20 or you'll be too awake to and not enter a dream.

      ^ exactly.

the small movement in your fingers will be all the attention you need to pay for them, and as long as they are moving you will know that in a little while you have to do the rc, so you don't need to focus on that much either.
And one more thing, if you think you did everything correctly but don't feel like you are asleep still, do the rc after the time is up anyway. Sometimes you can feel it, sometimes you can't, but you will miss it if you don't rc.
