Is there a technique I can use that won't wake my partner?

Hi, I've been trying to attain lucidity on and off for a while now. I have tried keeping a dream diary and doing regular reality checks in the hope that I will do one in my dreams. I became lucid after about three days, but woke up the instant I realised I was lucid. I kept trying for about four months, but did not become lucid again.

I have also tried setting an intention to lucid dream before I go to sleep, no luck there either.

On the few occasions that I have woken early, and have the opportunity to go back to sleep, I have tried to picture the dream I awoke from as I go back to sleep, but have not become lucid.

I would like to try some other techniques, but all there seem to be are ones like the wake back to bed. With my partner in bed next to me that is not practical.

Can anyone suggest other techniques I could try?

Here are two ways to wake up during the night without disturbing anyone else.

Have you ever noticed that you wake up before your alarmclock? You probably have I am not sure why this happens, but I can use it to my advantage.
I can trick my body into waking up by setting an alarm to wake me up at a specific time after I fall asleep, but I turn off the sound (and the vibration).
For some reason my body still thinks that the alarm is going to wake me up, and I wake up before that alarm naturally.

Another thing you can try, which I do every night. Is to look at the back of your eyelids while falling asleep and imagine that you have just woke up, and remember that feeling.
With pracctise you will start to wake up with closed eyes and being aware of that you have woke up. I usually use this awakening to DEILD.
But you can use this as a Wake Back to Bed. But if you remember that you dreamt right before you woke up, just lay still and you might come back to that dream.

      Good luck

Keep that dream journal! you need it if you want to have consistent dreams. You had a lucid after three days, thats great!! I had my first lucid almost a year after trying to!

Is it not practical only when using an alarm? if so a really effective way to wake up is to drink a glass or two of water before sleep, and you will wake up naturally after a sleep cycle, it works almost every time.
If you cant do that, then you are just going to have to work on reality checks and dream journalling when you wake up, maybe only waking up half way through the night on the weekends (if you can)

Keep determined though, reality checking through the day, dream journalling every morning, and waking back to bed when possible is great for lucid dreams.

DILD and MILD are probably the most suitable techniques for your situation. Question your reality, lots. Don't just reality check, that's simply not enough. Go with the mindset that right now, you could potentially be a dream. Again, question your reality. The more regularly, the better.
Keep in mind you will not have regular lucid dreams until you continue this method for a while. Of course, there will be lucid dreams, but it may not be on a regular basis.

      Good luck

Well im sleeping with my wife, and as long that im not using alarm clock i can "evacuate" from the bed without waking her up - thats not so hard. Just have to move slowly and silently. Its a bit harder to get Back To Bed

Day time naps are as good as WBTB but they have to be at least about 1,5h long.

I was always a little individual in my thinking: In my opinion questioning reality (RC) is also not enough - what you need is selfawareness - thats the key.

DILD and MILD are good suggestions for your situation, but I would like to add one: DEILD. It's a form of WILD in which you do not WBTB, so you won't need to move, meaning you won't wake up your partner. As for the dream journal: that is really person-specific. Some people really require it to be able to LD. For others it comes in handy, but it is not really necessary.
