      Dream characters SUCK!

Last night I had some really vivid, non-lucid dreams.

I remember that I asked a person in the dream if it was a dream, "I really think this is a dream." That part of the dream became much more vivid for a moment, but when this person did not answer the dream became more murky and continued.

      Has this happened to you?

      Hey Love

I've experienced a similar sensation to you, that blurriness or murkiness that you get when you "get lost" back into the dream after a moment of clarity, I've also had a similar experience with Dream characters where I have asked one how to get out of the house (I was stuck in the same house and kept having false awakenings everytime I tried to leave). I think I lost myself after they told me basically useless, random advice

Don't ever put faith in DC when it comes to gaining lucidity, most of the time they'll lie about whether or not you're dreaming lol.

Your avatar is so cute. X3

In your experience, Alyzarin, do DCs try and trick you and make you fall back into non lucid dreaming, or are they relatively passive?

Well, it depends on the DC. They have different personalities. Mine are usually passive, but some have been adamant about denying that I'm dreaming. I've heard stories of other peoples' DCs going to ridiculous lengths to talk them out of it. However on one unusual occasion I did become lucid because I was suspicious of my surroundings but probably wouldn't have caught it until a DC came up to me and said "Hey, have you noticed how odd this is? I think this is a dream." to which I responded "Holy crap, you're right. "

I've had a similar experience once, where a character came up to me and flat out told me "you're dreaming"
at which I had a sudden rush of clarity, then my alarm went off and I woke up. . .

Aah, what a bummer. But I can relate, in my dream right after that happened I managed to successfully stabilize, which almost never happens for me, and then someone sent me a text and my phone woke me up. :T

Sod's law how that happens I guess

You guys both sound like you get lucid pretty often then to have had some experiences talking to different types of DCs

I guess at least somewhat often. I've been having lucid dreams since 2009 (and once before that in 2007) so when you add all mine up over that time it's really not that much. At least, I could definitely do with more!

I think Lucid dreams are one thing you can never have too much of (unless they're all just horrible nightmares). I think I saw a post on here that classed the DCs into different "tribes" judging be their personalities.

Yeah, they're pretty wonderful. I'd even take lucid nightmares myself. They give you the opportunity to learn to conquer them and have more dream control.

is itpossible to tell a DC or maybe a DG to automatically tell you your dreaming if they see you? so basically everytime you sleep?

That seems kind of unlikely to me.

I guess having a DG or DC telling you would be pretty difficult to program into your mind as they are mostly controlled by the sub conscious which is far harder to talk to

They don't want you to become lucid. Imagine for a moment that there's this invincible and incredibly powerful being that lives amongst us, most of the time he is on heavy drugs and thus cannot take control over all of our lives. If he was good, life would improve and vice versa. In any case people would make sure that he doesn't sober up and "change" things. This is a metaphor. The dream world is a real world and within it you are a God, and the situation is the same.

When I go lucid my dream characters better hope I'm in a good mood. It's funny because if I'm not lucid they will do whatever to me, chase me, scare me, they are not afraid to hurt me. When I go lucid though, they get all nice, as if their scared. They don't lie, they don't try to "physically" fight me. They do however stand up for themselves if I go mad with power, even if they can't do anything to me.

Asking DCs if you're dreaming isn't a reliable way of becoming lucid; RCs are far more effective.

I've never had a DC tell me I'm not dreaming or anything along the lines of that (then again, I don't have that much experience with LDing yet), but I once asked a DC how to summon objects, to which he replied, "I'll tell you how - you can't."

From what I read, 9/10 times you try this, you either never see them again(They hide xD) or they lie. I agree with Neversoft..kinda. lol
I think DCs are projections of your mind, and your mind does not exactly want you knowing you are dreaming by default. It may take years of training before your subconscience is willing to let you know you are dreaming. Sure a random lucid here and there is fine, but it seems like more than not DCs will just want to keep you unaware. I think of inception, how DCs would stare at you, looking for intruders. In your own lucid dream, they may try to persuade you that what you see is all real, and completely normal, not a dream. Your mind does not want you knowing you are dreaming, and sometimes if you realize, they will convince you that you are not dreaming, and if their attempts fail, you may wake up.
What I have said might be BS lol, I do not have much experience in this. I have had two lucid dreams, both kinda short. My first lucid dream only had one DC and he said one thing: "Do you know how to get a whip on frontierville?" He said nothing about dreaming, I never talked to him about it..I now wish I had. That is my goal for my next LD: Talk to a DC, see what happens.

I have become quite interested on the layers of lucidity, and I use them to measure how lucid a dream is. For more information on these layers, click here.

I once had a dream where i asked my mother if I was dreaming. She said no. Luckily, I did not believe her and instead asked my friend, who told me the truth, and BAM!, a lucid dream.
