      Interesting Sleep Paralysis Fact

      Hello, fellow Oneironauts!

I just thought I'd share an interesting fact I discovered during my most recent Sleep Paralysis.

So I decided to take an afternoon nap on my sofa, and my girlfriend was working on the computer at a table close to me - I could see her clearly from my spot at the sofa. After a while I fell asleep, and later experienced a sleep paralysis. Along came the hallucinations and stuff, but I could see my girlfriend sitting there working so I focused really hard on trying to say "Please, wake me up!" The funny thing is that she walked over to me and woke me up. She said I had looked at her, with my eyes just about half open, and groaned something.

I just thought it was interesting to finally know that I am actually looking around when I have my sleep paralysis episodes.

Would not have thought the body was capable of that when under SP.

Keep in mind I might be an exception though. Like how some people sleepwalk, talk in their sleep etc.
However, I haven't found any information on this particular subject so I just figured I'd contribute with this observation. It would be great if it was possible to do more research on this.

Also, let's not forget the fact that I might have begun awakening already when this happened.

I've always tried to figure this out, and as far as I can guess, SP is a gradual process. I've been listening to my fan well going into SP. All I noticed was the sound got distorted. I generally think SP tends to distort things, sounds, sights. I think most dreams begin because HI (unrelated to visualizing, includes random colors and lights behind closed eye lids) is interpreted as objects and scenes which evolve into day dreams then evolve into dreams with increasing stability.

I'm pretty sure that this a part of sleep paralysis, you're body is paralyzed but you still have control over your eyes and your breathing.
