      Thumbs up First time becoming Lucid?!

      So, I have been trying to lucid dream for about 2 weeks. I am finding that I am usually too tired after work to recall my dreams the next morning, so I have made slow progress.
      Last night I think I had a lucid dream but would like some input/affirmation.

      I dreamt that I was walking around some sort of base for a large fight/war. I went room to room meeting our team members. I walked into the control room and noticed a guy that I work with. I then looked and there was a large black and white board. I asked myself "Am I dreaming?" and looked at the board 2 more times, and it was in a different format each time. I got really excited, and then the "view" zoomed out and I was able to look around. Then I remembered that when you achieve lucid dreaming that excitement usually wakes you up. I knew this was going to happen and tried to spin, but I ended up waking.

      My issue is that I blatantly remember wanting the board to be different. I feel like I may have not been lucid because I felt like subconsciously I botched the reality check so to speak?

      Thanks for the feedback all!

      Yeah you were lucid alright Not all lucids come in perfect quality or with clear thoughts. You can still have a bit of dream logic and follow the dream to a certain degree, but as long as you know you're in a dream, it's a lucid.

      You don't have to reality check, but it's often good to do so to get confirmation and stabilize a bit.

      Congrats on your (first?) lucid dream! And if you feel like excitement is about to wake you up, rub your hands together and examine your surroundings thoroughly. Spinning around isn't always effective

      When you preform reality checks it's a good idea to want it to fail, meaning you are in a dream. In this instance you wanted the board to change and it did, making you lucid. If for some reason you didn't want it to change it probably wouldn't have since dreams follow emotions more than logic. Besides, when you do a RC in waking life it will say you're awake no matter how badly you want it to work/fail.

      I also have a question, I've been doing RC's all day and such, and in my last dream, I performed two RC's I did the clock one along with the plug your nose and see if you can breath, both came back as positive for dreaming, but for some reason I didn't become lucid after that, I just continued with my dream as normal. Could these just be bad RC's for me?

      @Skarmand

      Whenever you preform your RCs in waking life be sure to really think about it, really question reality. You don't want to just go through the motions because then when it does work this will happen. You just have to be sure that whenever you do a RC you genuinely questing what's going on and even preform more than one (which you did). Unfortunately, even if you do all of this sometimes you will not get lucid despite RCs telling you you're in a dream. This is just an unfortunate coincidence and happens to a lot of people eventually. Just shrug it off and think of it as you being that close to achieving lucidity. Use it as motivation to keep going and you will get there, you're very, very close.
