      Question Staying Lucid

Havent posted in a while, wasnt very popular but stopped when the site got hacked or something.
Well ive been having some lucid dreams lately, but they barely last. what can i do to make them longer? ive tried repeatedly telling myself that im dreaming, it does work but only for a few seconds cause i get tired of saying it.
oh i also had a dream where i looked at the clock 3 times, saw different times each time, and i couldnt tell i was dreaming. some help with that too? thank you very much for your help. some tips on getting more lucid dreams would be nice too cause i havent had one a around 1-2 months. thanks guys(:

When I had my last lucid the hand rubbing did not work. Just simply touch everything around you, look around, hear everything and just ground yourself into the dream

Touching your surroundings, as n00b said, is probably the best way to go about it. I've never done the hand rubbing thing, because simply touching things nearby works for me. For example in my second lucid dream, after performing a RC and realising I was dreaming. To anchor yourself to the dream and secure it, feel the walls or what ever is around you. It'll really help.

You can also try spinning around, this is a good way to stay in a dream, spin round and round - you will be teleported to somewhere completely different. But it'll be a secure dream.

As for your RCs (the clock checking) not working, try a different one. The one I use is pinching my nose and trying to breath (in or out) through it. If you can breath you're in a dream. There's a lot of guides out there on RCs that you can use. Don't just be limited to looking at a clock Oh and I also use the RC where you try to push your index finger through the palm of your other hand. If it goes through you definately know you're not awake

Hey Earl, check out this stabilization tutorial. Hope it helps!

Also, with regards to getting more lucids, I would suggest practicing awareness. Of course, you can do repeated RCs in real life, in hopes of spontaneously doing an RC while dreaming, and in turn, get lucid. But really, it's awareness that makes you lucid. Awareness is what makes you realize something is wrong in your dream, and thus you reality check to prove it.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

You need to stabilize the dream. Right when you get lucid you should be stabilizing it. It is a key part of lucid dreaming that will make the lucid last longer and become more vivid.

Here is Dreamviews official stabilization tutorial. That should help.

I think the key to stabilizing the dream is activating your senses. Just stop for a moment and really focus on what's arouse you. Feel the texture of things, smell them, taste them, hear them, etc.

Of course, there is always the classic rubbing your hands and spinning around technique. If you feel the dream about to fade, spin around and rub your hands! This causes your brain to create a new feeling and scenery which keeps you n the dream.

Hope this helped! If you have questions, just ask.
