Start Dreaming in the Relaxation Stage!

I am not sure if this works, but it doesn't hurt to try right?

On my latest WILD attempts (before bed) I have noticed that I start daydreaming unaware, I am not even in REM I am in the relaxation stage of sleep.
So about 20-30 minutes after going to bed.

      This is what happened:

I started visualizing my old school and I walked from the first floor to the fourth and I imagined every floor to be a stage of my relaxation. The exercises I used are from the Gateway Experience by Robert Monroe.

1 Floor: Imagined that I went to my old locker and I put symbols of all my worries and concerns inside.

2 Floor: When I get up I see a Tibetan monk sitting there and meditating, then he open his eyes and tell me to become aware of my breathing: Breathe in through my nose, pause 3 seconds and then exhale with my mouth as if I were blowing out a candle and doing a vocal sound at the same time "wuhhhhhhh".

3 Floor: I walk inside the assembly hall and imagine that it works like a spiritual church for astral travelers, and I see a big ball of light surrounding me, going from my head and down to my feet. And I feel my body get energized, then I imagine it spiral around my body and re-enter my feet.

4 Floor: State my affirmation and goal, and then I enter a door which leads to another door. Each door have a number on it first door 1, then to, and all the way up to the number 10. (Focus 10).

Here the guided meditation CD ends, so I don't have more exercises, so I imagine a white chair and a woman going in an start massaging me and prepare me for my experience, but then I don't know what to visualize anymore.

BUT! Here my mind starts to wander and random sentences come up in my mind like:
"No you can't do that if Karla is there!". Then I notice my doze of and think
"Who is Karla? LOL". And sometimes I even visualize unaware different scenarios.

(I can't call it dreaming, since I am not in REM yet right??".

Anyway what I would like you to do is to try to induce this state of random pictures in the head, and somehow try to become aware of them. What would happen?

You don't have to use my Floor visualization, I just put it there if anyone was interested. You can use any relaxation method you like, just try to induce this unaware daydream.

So this is what you need to do:

      1. Learn to relax yourself until you start to become drowsy, without become unaware too fast.

      2. Catch yourself thinking those weird thoughts and visuals. Example: No I am not ready to bungy-jump Albert..

      3. Find a way to become aware of those unaware daydreams.

If someone already knew what this stage is called, please reply

Do you think it's possible to enter a dream this way? Or is this experiment a waste of time?

You are in between the Theta brainwave and Delta brainwaves during sleep onset. This is a daydreamy area and can lead to non-R.E.M. dreams . There is a popular misconception that dreams only occur in R.E.M. They occur throughout the night... even at the beginning of sleep. However, the most intense dreams will occur later in R.E.M. The Theta state is a form of self-hypnosis we humans go through nightly... whether we know it or not.

Misinformation is handed out like free cupcakes on the Internet. This is especially true with sleep and dreams. I would suggest all patrons of this forum research the transition from the awake and aware brain to the sleeping brain. The information is out there. Wikipedia is a great source.

Thanks for the information faceonmars But does that mean that it is possible to lucid dream in those non-rem dreams? Because some of them feel quite vivid.
