What should I do at this part when taking a nap?

So I at lunch about a half hour before this if it makes any difference. I laid down on my back with my hands by my side and my feet uncrossed. Ever since I started trying is position for WILD, it's been my comfortable relaxation position. One problem I do have is saliva build up but I'm not gonna worry about that right now. So i'm lying down and I'm thinking about what I should start to daydream about and what would be easiest. I peed just before getting into bed so I thought that would be easiest hahahaha. I got to the point where I started having "dream flashes". The only one I can remember fully right now is a baby voice saying "I like silk". I tried daydreaming then but nothing was happening so I looked at my eyelids and everything was so bright. It got brighter and brighter until it started burning my eyes! I knew if I stayed like that my eyes would open so I went back to daydreaming. A little later I got a text and it ruined all my concentration. I'm done with napping for today but could you help me and tell me what to do and what I did wrong?

Did you feel sleep paralysis in this state? How long were you trying for? With the information you gave, it sounds like you did nothing wrong. You just lost concentration with the text message, which is expected. If you were trying for a very long time, you can try waking up at night after 6 hours of sleep or so, and try then. It also just sounded like you were having some intense visual hypnogogia. Theres nothing you can do about that as it was probably just a one time thing. You can also try DEILD if you can't get WILD down, as the WILD technique is very difficult to do. The DEILD method is basically a WILD that lasts 10 seconds, than your in a dream. Hope this helps!

It sounds to me like you need to tone down on the awareness, otherwise you won't go deeper. The same generally goes for visualisation; try to do it in a "dreamy" way without using mental force.

You could try remembering being there before, like it's a memory you're experiencing with all of your senses.

You could try being the main character of a videogame you have played, 1st-person perspective of course.

You could try visualising a movie you have seen many times, adding you to the cast.

From my experience visualisation comes easier if you can relate to it somehow, as it adds a familiar feeling and makes it less forced. Remember that you have to live the daydream, meaning you have to forget about your body in bed, you must lose perspective of time and you shouldn't think about what you are doing... just do it.

      Good Luck, Tucane

Oh wait but what should I do about the light hurting my eyes to the point of opening them?

I think people gave you some good advice.

The light can be countered with a soft sleep mask.

You might want to try taking naps when you are sleepy on the weekends or before you eat. The metabolic process of digesting food, depending on what you eat, could keep you awake.
