Strange Sensation When Trying the DEILD Method?

      Hey All ,
Last night when attempting my usual DEILD method, something very strange happened to me. Just about 10 seconds into the method, i felt as if my legs and torso were floating in the air and my legs moving back and forth. I kept with it for a while out of curiosity, but after a minute or so i just opened my eyes and i was back to normal. I didn't experience sleep paralysis, vibrations, or anything but that odd sensation. I expect this was the beginning of an OBE or a partial one, but i never really research the topic so i pretty much have no clue. Does anyone have a clue of what this could of been? And if it was an OBE, how can i get my head to "detach" from my real body if this happens to me again? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like the beginning of a new NREM stage, so next time just try to keep it going and relax until it grows into something more substantial.

OBEs are just WILDs when your dream ends up being the room that you're sleeping in. That's it.

You should've done a RC after you decided to stop the attempt. You probably would've been in a dream. As for what an OBE is (and how to do them), that's up for debate and some people just disregard it like the person above me. I would suggest looking into it a bit and experimenting around then coming to your own conclusion.

Also, this could've been HH. Sometimes I enter SP and never even realize it until I try to move and can't so it's possible that you were in fact in SP and were just experiencing HH, or even HH alone. I'm not entirely sure if SP is a prerequisite for HH or not.

Best advice anyone can give. Next time something like this arises have some fun with it. I mean, theirs no rush as we dream almost 1/3 of our life. People always ask me tonnes of questions especially now with my guide but the best is to just figure it out for yourself.
It did sound very cool though, maybe you had already entered a dream?? who knows, maybe you've just developed a new technique

Something similar happened to me when I was trying to DEILD. I felt like someone was lifting my legs and crossing my ankles, and then I started to vibrate like crazy while "floating". I was like, "Hey, chill, this is normal. Just breathe," and started hearing this loud cat meowing in my ear and bam! I was suddenly in a weird version of my room with Volstagg (yeah, from Thor) sitting by the bed and telling me to chill or my dream would fade, but it faded after 15 seconds anyway. LOL. My first LD experience.

I agree with the others, though, you should've looked into it.

OBE might the most bias-free of the terms for these kinds of experiences, as it suggests it's an experience... thus eliminating all controvercy. Understanding this makes communication less forced.

Anyways, now to completing the transition. Controlling these kinds of situations is basically the same as in any other lucid dream, except for the fact that feeling close to your physical body may complicate things. You might need to use some additional force of will in your visualisation if you don't feel detached enough. For example; try spinning around your axis mentally, so that you'll rip yourself loose. Infact, anything that feels logical will work.

You could also make a direct demand to your subconcious. It works on the same basis as traditional dream control, mentally shouting out what you want/need to create a desired effect. As long as you believe it will work, it damn sure will. Works like a charm in LD and in SP aswell.

      Best of luck, Tucane
