      Best for me

I am wondering what you guys believe is the best lucid dreaming technique for me. I am dream journaling and reality checking. When I was very young I remember being able to get out of nightmares at will. I would close my eyes and say this isn't real and wake up. Also, I remember having my own episodes of spongebob that would play in my eyes if I woke up in the morning and I think this was hypnagogic imagery. Given these past experiences, what would the best lucid dreaming technique be for me.

      Welcome to DV!!
MILD, it is probably the easiest technique out there. Keeping a Dream journal and doing reality checks are also play an important role in inducing lucid dreams and dream vividness. The next time you realize that your dreaming, affirm yourself that nothing can harm you and your in control rather than wasting an awesome chance to lucid dream and trying to wake yourself up.

You can just watch those HH and imagine yourself in it, which would make you lucid. Btw, there are a lots of tutorials regarding this on DV.

My suggestion is try them all. Start with a MILD (obviously the easiest and least time consuming to attempt). If that does not work for you move on to a WILD. Always keep in mind that a DEILD can always be attempted if a dream awakens you. BTW, visualization while progressively relaxing my muscles is the key for me to attain lucid dreams.

"What would the best lucid dreaming technique be for me?"

There is no one who can answer that question better than yourself.

There are only two ways to lucid dream and that is.

The Indirect way - DILD: Falling asleep unaware and realizing it is a dream while in the dream.
The Direct way - WILD: Falling asleep aware and never losing awareness between the waking and dreaming state.

Then there are different methods for these two, everything from wearing a golden ring and seeing it in your dream, to having a dream mask blinking with lights in your eyes.

Both DILD and WILD methods have some core factor that makes you realize that all are only variations of the same thing.

      Intention and awareness.

So try out some different methods and see what suits you best, if you choose DILD then find ways to intend in the best way, but if you choose WILD then find ways to be aware in the best way.
I have some opinions that you can read about in my Dream Journal, although the best way for you can only be discovered by you, because it's different for everyone.

I perform both the WILD and DILD technique each night and I use: MILD, WBTB, DEILD, Bedeekins method, active and indirectly autosuggestion, VILD ...

It might look complicated at the first glance but in the end it's just intention and awareness.

Good luck. If I made it look complicated I am sorry, if you need any help just ask.

      Sweet dreams

I had read about SSILD before and was beyond intrigued by it but totally forgot. Tonight I will wake up after 5 hours of sleep, drink milk for increased dream intensity and SSILD and MILD. Also I am thrilled by the idea of OBEs. Plus I just read about how the concept of my favorite album had to do with OBESs.

Try dild as mentioned previously or try SSILD, but if you decide to try SSILD, that in my opnion is the fastest way of having a LD, get comfortable with the possibility of having an OBE
If you are not ready a OBE can be very scary. When use SSILD theres a chance of having a OBE, so just dont be surprised if you start getting out of your body.

Last night I did ssild and fild. When I was doing fild, I felt extreme vibrations but didn't go into a dream. Can you give some advice on how to fild and go from vibrations to dreaming?

You should actually wait for the vibrations to end. It simply means that the transition is over. Now you can either visualize a dream or just roll out of bed.

I did wait for the vibrations to end and they did but when I sat up and peformed a nos reality check, it failed in the sense that I couldnt breathe through it. In other words, I wasnt dreaming. Can you give more advice on transitioning with the FILD and visualizing with FILD?

I read that article and thanks a lot for it. I will try the reality check without moving because i think me sitting up ruined the dream i had. I am very confident i will have my first lucid dream tonight. Wish me luck and thanks.
