      I Just Can't WILD- help!

Every single time I try WILDING, I get absolutely nowhere. Last night I spent an hour attempting to WILD, but not alot happened.

As I laid with my eyes shut in my bed, all I could see was black. A few seconds later, however, just as I had started to think "damnit", I saw a white flash. It almost made me open my eyes, but I kept them close. Then it was black again.

It stayed all enteriely black. I thought of every single method that popped into my head: breathing rhytmically, the weird "1 im dreaming, 2 im dreaming, <number> im dreaming" method, just thinking I was going to dream, relaxing, laying up, laying down, curling up, sitting up, absolutely nothing happened. All there was was black.

At one point one little colored dot floated by. It faded out very quickly though. Considering I sat trying to do this for an hour, I think I'm either doing it wrong or I just can't do it.

      Help would be much appreciated.

err, did you go to bed for about 5 hours and then wake up then back to bed? I heard its easier plus I heard its healthier than doing it at night. Ive only had one WILD so far, but what I did was what I said up above and layed on my back. Then I just kept my mind clear of all thoughts. If any thoughts occured I just imagined them being put on clouds and floating away. Then eventually (30-40 minutes) I felt sleep paralysis and so I saw an image in my mind and focused on it. Then I entered the dream.

I'm sure it would work better after you've had a lot of sleep, or if you're incredibly sleepy.

alright then, perhaps this technique is not for you. try it a few more times, if it still doesn't work, don't do it anymore, try something else. also, do you meditate? if not, I'm sure that could help, if you can do that well.

join the club. seriously, some people just can't get it for a while, and have to give it extended effort.

The people who know TONS about WILD are seeker, and Rtex, so perhaps you could have a more detailed conversation with those two guys?

Hey, my name, mentioned in a good light. Thats encouraging...

Anyhow, the two biggest problems that occur when trying a WILD

      (1) I Fall asleep before anything happens!

      (2) I can't fall asleep! I stay awake for hours!

My two suggestinos are, For those who fall asleep to quickly, Visualize, Practice with a candle, or a dish or something. Sit in front of it, and stare at it, then close your eyes, and picture it in your mind. If the image fades, open your eyes and then repeat the process. Do this until you can maintain a clear image of the object with your eyes closed.

For you people that have trouble falling asleep. Meditate, practice meditating, that will get your body relaxed enough for your mind to enter REM sleep... I'm not the expert on meditation, but I know that will help you fall asleep quicker.

My formula for WILDs, Good visualazation skills + good meditation skills = a good WILDer

      hope this helps

Meditation... I've never really done it. What do you do, exactly?

Like I said, I'm not very good at meditating, Not falling asleep has never been my problem. I can't think of anyone of the top of my head either. Anyhow, theunknowndreamer, Have you practiced meditating/visualazation? Those things are the keys to open the WILD door.

As I have said before, WILD is NOT easy, it is veritably the hardest way to get lucid, however, once mastered you can lucid dream at will. One night, or even one week of dedication isn't going to get you the skill. It took me over nine months to learn how to WILD well. I know that sounds daunting, but its worth it. In the long run, I would suggest DILD(dream induced lucid dreaming) so that you can feel what Lucid dreams are like, and after you've gained the motive and determination, go for WILD.

I WILDed twice in one night the first time I tried, but the last two times I've gotten nothing. I hope that wasn't just beginners luck...

A quick question... Do you all think MILD is the most effective way to LD or is somthing else better?

I've given up on WILD'ing and decided to have a stab at Astral Projection stuff. Not like I'll be any better at it than WILD'ing, but I've printed out an 127 page treatise on it, so I might get somewhere this time.

Well, that is encouraging! Thought it was just me. I am now on month three of trying every night. I had resolved this morning to just give up and get back my extra hour of sleep.

Maybe now.....I'll give it another couple of months.

      Thanks for the encouragement Rtex

Seeker, you say you've been trying every night for 3 months. I just figure it might be like a lot of things in life; when you try too hard too much you might thwart your own efforts. Maybe a couple days off every now and then would allow you to go back with a fresh mind about it.
