From your profile, it seems your about a month into it. Awareness, like all other things requires practice, and a bit of effort.
I second the reference to Yoshi's ADA awareness guide, it's a good guide to a tool that should be implied into a dreamer's waking life. Lucid Dreaming, is all about maintaining, and having consciousness during dreaming. Awareness, per se. One of the most important types of awareness, (solely by personal opinion ) Is Self Awareness. Become self aware in your daily life, notice the effect that -you- have on the world, everything you do affects and changes the world, if even of the smallest scale!
Let's say one's come to find the knowledge they have an affect on their surroundings; carry that over to dreams, you realize your the one influencing and creating/discovering the world!
Instead of hearing my ramble, here's a link straight to the source of self awareness: http://www.dreamviews.com/f156/wild-...p-part-131815/
Sageous has some extremely useful info, I highly suggest taking some time to check out his work!
My best wishes for your awareness, Happy Dreaming!
