      Am I doing enough?

Am I doing enough throughout my ordinary day to put myself on the track to my first DILD (also first lucid dream in general)?

      Awareness and RC checks

For one, I follow this self-awareness RRC (chose this over the ADA technique) by Sageous. I do 1-2 of these self-awareness checks every hour. I ask myself: "Where was I five minutes ago? Where was I an hour ago? Where will I be in five minutes? How does the environment effect me? How do I effect the environment?" - These are the exact questions I ask myself in my mind. I also try to switch up where I'm at when I do these checks, so it's not always the same answers.

And of course, I follow with (within a few minutes of the RRC check or right after), I do two regular RC checks.

      Dream Recall

Everyday I wake-up, I try to sit in bed and recall if I had a dream (I usually only do this if I had a dream to remind me of doing this). If I didn't, usually I'll forget to even record down "Nothing" until a few hours later. However, when I do have a dream, I to tend to write it down after thinking about it for a few seconds in bed before I get up.

So, that's my brief run-through of my attempt at furthering my dream recall and attempt at lucidity. Do you guys personally have any suggestions regarding this daily schedule? I'm not too sure if I'm doing enough to ensure I'll obtain lucidity or not. My biggest fear is that I'm not doing enough to get my recall better (remembered one dream since I started training on my lucidity & recall about a week ago).

      Thanks,
      Buckey

It looks like you have a very solid routine going on. If it is going to be your first lucid dream you may need to keep your morale up, just make sure that you know it varies for everyone, when I first started it only took me about a week to start having lucid dreams, for others it can take much longer, other than that with this kind of routine you are the right track to your first lucid dream

P.S. You can also use mantras before going to sleep at night. Good luck!

Are mantras specifically for MILD, though? If not, I'll most definitely try it.

Mantras are needed in MILD but are not specifically for MILD, just as using electronics and such aren't for a specific technique, just use what fits you the best!

You didn't say for how much time you have been trying.

I'm still a beginner too. I just had my 7th LD after I began trying two months ago, and none of them was more than a few seconds long (maximum 10 or 15 s ?). The first one was after 2 weeks. I think you're on a good path because my first LD and some others directly resulted from asking myself in my dream : well, why am I here, how did I come here ? I very clearly remember answering to a dream character : I don't even know what the f* I'm doing here and instantly becoming lucid, that was a great funny feeling.

I've been asking myself recently, reading in this forum testimonies of people who lucid dream since they were young, if LD is not a bit like learning foreign languages, it's easier when you're still young and your brain still developping (I'm 34). That would be interesting to have some statistical data about this.

You know you're doing enough when you're excited to do more

Before I go to bed, I say the following several times (and a few times throughout the day):

"I will have a lucid dream tonight."
      "I will remember my dreams."
"I will wake up after my dreams."

And of course, I'm still doing my self-awareness checks.

I don't wake-up at all during the night, but might start drinking water to help as suggested by gab.

Edit: Also generally get about eight hours of sleep per day, and more on the weekends.
