Induce hypnogogic state by listening to breathing amplified

In poking around the internet I came across to a reference in a book on hypnosis, which suggests you can induce a hypnogogic state by listening to your own breathing: "As a result of listening to the regular rhythm of his own breathing, the subject falls into a hypnagogic state." It says by listening to one's own breath amplified the state is quickly and easily entered. Has anyone tried this? I'm going to give it a try with a USB headset and Audacity.

Sounds interesting. Let me know how you get on.

Edit: You might find you can emulate the effect by wearing ear plugs or ear defenders (not so sure about the latter).

My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

I have another breathing experiment for you, when you exhale as much as you can it also boost the SP process. But you're are still going to lay there for a good 15-20 mins.

Right, that's Grof's Holotropic Breathwork. I tried it about a month ago, had an interesting experience the first time, then it didn't seem to do much. It's really hard work!

I'm going to try some deep breathing, meditation, and isochronic tones along with listening to my breath. Something has to happen!

I'll do that too right now, I'm kind of bored and this sounds like a great idea.
