A piece of advice for breaking through a dry spell.

When you're getting frustrated and feel like you're going backwards instead of forwards on your quest to mastering the fine art of lucid dreaming, instead of rambling on about what you could be possibly doing wrong etc. just quit for a moment and put your old dream journal away.

Take some days off from lucid dreaming and try to find new inspiration and motivation during those days. Visualize what it currently is that you seek in the dreamworld.

Do you want to experience enhanced creativity during a dream to solve a problem?
Do you want to visit beautiful dreamscapes? Travel to places barely imaginable?
Perhaps you want to have sex with certain (or several) beautiful men/women?
Maybe you've realised that you don't want to waste any more of the proximated 6 years you're dreaming in your life? There's so many reasons, whether it is spiritual or just extreme personal pleasure and joy, lucid dreaming is one of the most useful skills I can think off!
When you find something that you get excited about, hold on to it.

The last step is actually forget everything you now think of lucid dreaming and how to attain them and start over from day one and go to the store to buy a NEW dream journal you like and start with training your dream memory which is the first step after your fresh start!

What I'm saying is that sometimes when you have done something in a certain way for a long period of time, you usually get stuck in a habit where you do something wrong but stop realising it. A new start will make room for fresh progress.

Nice post, I also agree when some people mention that lucid dreaming is, by itself, an empty concept. Being lucid is the same as being awake: it's only useful if it serves a greater purpose.

Yes sometimes it helps to take a little break from it, it helps when people realize that they have an entire lifetime to lucid dream and they can see that by taking a few days off they will save themselves more trouble than trying to persist half-hardheartedly.
