Lightbulb Can't Have Lucid Dream, Only Got Semi-Lucid

      So I'm new, so Hi!

Anyway I've been really interested in Lucid dreaming for a while now. I seem to have really vivid dreams naturally and I often remember the last dream I have, though sometimes If it's just plain weird or scary I remember it too.

Anyway I think the technique where you wake then go back to bed (I forget it's name) is probably the best for me since I tend to wake naturally anywhere from 6 - 8 hours after going to sleep and often I go on to sleep another 6 - 4 hours unless I need to get up.

Anyway back to my point, it's often in the second I guess session of sleeping I seem to recall or realise I'm dreaming. I know I get semi lucid because I realise I'm dreaming but I don't seem to take control. It's like I go I'm dreaming, ok back to letting the dream run. The most annoying thing is I not long after that begin to realise I'm waking up because I'm starting to conciously process the sounds I'm hearing.
I try to keep a dream journal but often I just can't seem to remember enough detail to write it down. Like one dream I remember it was like I was on a custom mario kart track but when I woke up that's all I could remember apart from a few oddities like pokemon appearing or black holes.

Anyway my point is how can I stop myself from waking up and how can I get myself to take control of the dream?

Also what's your opinion on this: I remember I had this dream one night where I thought spiders where on me and I had to get them off, only I'd swear my eyes were open and I was seeing myself and not the dream. I'm also fairly certain I wasn't awake or hallucinating. (I know It's not exactly the right place for this but I just thought I'd ask because I can't get it off my mind)

      Thanks,
      Naomi

lucid dreaming does not exactly work because of a technique, its your motivation. thats what I think atleast. first things first, set up a regular sleep schedule. mine is 10pm what I do is at 8pm I turn off all my electronics and open all my windows completely (it was a full moon two days ago so its bright) and think why I want to lucid dream. also incubate my dream, seems stupid and maybe cheesy but its the way it is for me. on another note in my dreams im also often sitting on my bed looking at the moon light just like before bed and become lucid because of non sensical text displaying in my window.

about your dream, you may have phobia to spiders and opened your actual eyes within a dream. I learned martial arts in LDs from specific DCs that I ask teach me(subconscious) and the movies ive seen(consciousness) and im in love with my kicks, and last night I kicked a nightmare character so hard I moved my actual leg and and woke up but thankfully fell back in the same dream. you have a very strong will so props to you but the dream means nothing, you're fine.

my step sister's name is Naomi shes like 7 or 8 not sure.

PS I do NOT daydream while looking out the window, in case you want to try it. stay focused on what you want maybe repeat a mantra and then keep your mind on your senses(which is the idea of opening the windows) if its snowing where you are make up for the difference or try when its not.

I think this is good advice, I've been taking a similar approach to this. Techniques aren't sure-fire ways to become lucid in a dream. They are a way to focus your intention.

If you are already proficient in becoming lucid (or semi lucid) while you are already dreaming, maybe it would be a good idea to work on your awareness. Just ACTUALLY contemplate throughout your waking life whether or not you are dreaming. If you are persistant it becomes a habit that manifests in your dreams.

As far as recall goes, I'm finding that autosuggestion/mantra before bed really does make a difference in helping me remember what I had dreamed the night befire. I'll usually tell myself "When I dream, I wake up and remember them." I didn't receive instantaneous results, but after a few days I noticed that I was waking up 3-4 times in the night which I had not noticed before
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

      Just a quick note -

you were lucid, not semi-lucid. If you realize you are dreaming, that's a lucid dream. You can have different degrees of control or non at all, at it still is a lucid. Check out dream control forum for more info about stabilizing the dream. And don't worry, it will get better with practice. Happy dreams
