      Trying to WILD. Little success

      Hey all!

I've been tryin to WILD for three nights in a row now for about 30-60 minutes each time. The hypnagogic imagery come pretty fast, and i see spinning lights and flashes of color after like 10 minutes, and then they come and go with like 10 minute intervals. Slowly, slowly the paralysis keeps gettin heavier, and i get to the point where my mind starts to kind of think on it's own. I start having really wierd thoughts that i have no idea where they came from, just like a dream, except i'm not really seeing clear images like u do in a dream. It's more similar to day-dreaming. I've never reached complete paralysis where i cannot move at all. So now I'm wondering how far you guys think I am from having a dream in this state. Man laying still in the same position for 60 minutes sure gets uncomfortable and boring !! Also, I wanna know what "state of mind" I wanna put myself in to be sucessfull. Do i wanna keep myself completely awake or do i wanna let my mind drift and be sorta "almost asleep". ?

Well, It seems like you're pretty far away (from my experience) but everyone is different. Don't worry bud, you'll get there soon. A technique I use is imagine yourself counting numbers in the sand at a beach, with the waves gently washing over your body. Do not think about ANYTHING but those numbers. Every 10 seconds, gently check you HI, then go back to drawing the numbers... After a while you should be in a dream
God, grant me the courage the change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference...

Hmmmmmm I have to disagree that you were seeing any HI at all here. The stuff that you see behind your eyelids and what not when you close your eyes for awhile is not HI. HI is actually, well...like hallucinations...and there is a MAJOR difference between what you see in your mind or imagination, what you see behind your eyelids, and HI.

Alot of people mistake other things for HI...once I reach HI and the vibrational stage I am pretty much guaranteed to go lucid. The HI is so incredibly entrancing that it really just flows right into your dream. The little bursts of images and what not before the HI stage could be little snipits of it trying to start, then disappearing again when you become to conscious of it.

Keep in mind that everyone is different so there's a point where you just gotta figure stuff out for yourself. I know I did and I only started with the more basic info. Seems like people lately are trying to hard and concentrating too much on all the little details of WILD (and I can't blame them) but it is very distracting.

For example...here is what happened for 2 successful WILDs that I had. The first time I think I was laying there for a good 60 minutes, just sort of wandering around in my own mind getting lost. Then these forms began to take shape...in my imagination and behind my eyelids...it was all encompassing. There were two figures...Egyptian like figures who were extremely colorful. Their makeup was so bright, red, gold, shiny...it was like watching a dance. The two figures moved closer together and kissed...once they kissed they swirled around into each other and I remember just fading into a dream scene and suddenly I was standing there...lucid.

The other time...I had been laying in bed for about 90 minutes when I reached HI. I just suddenly began to float up out of my body...through my ceiling...through every level of my house...through the attic...I saw the detail of the dust and every place that I flew up through there was a hole left in the floor so I could look down and see my bed three floors down. I should have stopped after three levels/floors because that was as big as my old house was but I kept going up and up. I kept an eye on my bed the whole time. I floated up through this green room with people in it...through a red room...through all these amazing and crazy rooms. I saw my bed...maybe 20 floors below me...I could barely see it anymore...it started to fade out...finally I floated through glass...and as I floated out through the glass I could still see everything I had just floated out through...which turned into a little square reflection on a bright red christmas tree ornament. I floated around the tree looking at all the other ornaments...and suddenly my dream scene faded in and I was standing there lucid.

That last one is hard to explain but was extraordinarliy breathtaking and beautiful, as where the Egyptian figures. Anyway HI doesn't have to be THAT complex...I'm just saying that it is alot different than the typical things we see that we might mistake for HI at certain times. There was NO WAY that I was going to lose consciousness or come out of HI once I was in it...like I said it was all encompassing...extremely engrossing, and I just went along with it and let it take me wherever it did.

I think the best advice for WILD is to just keep trying. I've tried many a time wiht no success, but each time I do it I feel like I've got a little bit closer to getting it, and wish I'd only tried it a little bit longer.

Keep at it, you'll get there. If not now, then sometime in the future, but it's worth it. I hope.
