The only time I have ever been lucid (or was I?)

Hey all, I've decided to get back in to the world of lucid dreaming after dabbling a bit in my teenage years and experiencing little to no success (and getting bored).

I want to share an experience with you all that I had about 15 years old (I am now 20), and want to get your opinion if this was in fact a lucid dream or not.

In my dream, I was standing in some sort of open plain concrete square, surrounded by close grassy hills that I couldn't see over. There was a small plane in the middle, which I ran over to. The entrance was a vertical ladder underneath the plane, where you climbed up into the aisle of it. I got in and sat in an empty seat. There was a ticket inspector (who was my Dad, which was odd), and I realised I had not bought a ticket. I tried to sit inconspicuously and hoped he wouldn't notice me, and it worked. He walked right by me, and for some reason I came to the conclusion that I was invisible. I decided I need to get off the plane since I never had a ticket, so when the aisle was free I opened the door on the ground, and realised the ladder was absolutely huge and the distance to the ground was far bigger than I thought. I fell out the plane but landed on my feet and was surprised to realise it never hurt at all.

This was where I believe I realised I was dreaming. I immediately decided I wanted to experience flight, and so I ran over to this natural-looking staircase (a staircase structure that looked like it was a natural path) at the edge of the concrete square in order to get a boost. I ran to the first step and jumped, got incredibly high but fell back to the stairs.

It was then I realised the stairs were covered in ice, and every time I tried to jump off them, I would slip and not get a suitable jump which would make me fall back down. After about 10 seconds of constantly falling, I woke up.

This was the only experience I had that felt like a lucid sort of dream when I began trying to become lucid. I realised I was dreaming, but I couldn't control the environment from acting against me and therefore couldn't actually do anything in the dream.

So did I 'attain lucidity' here?

Because in all honesty it only felt like I had attained half-lucidity, or, more hilariously, I dreamed about waking up in a dream and therefore wasn't actually lucid and couldn't control my environment.

What I would say it was is a layer zero lucid dream. Because of what I got from this was that you knew something was wrong but you couldn't really break through, but don't quote me on that since I haven't had a lucid dream or near one yet, I just do much much research.

Lucid dreams dosen't necessarily mean you can control your dream it only means that you are aware of you dreaming.

Yes, you were lucid, so congrats on that!
As Iwon said lucidity means being aware that you are dreaming, dream control is often gotten while lucid, but not always. Also were you really full expecting that you could fly, or there were doubts? Dream control is heavily influenced by your expectations, check out this tutorial for more information on dream control: http://www.dreamviews.com/articles/7...-tutorial.html

yes you were lucid as already answered and well done
ive had quite alot of LD's now and all have been DILDS , even though being close to a wild i havent nailed it yet

but in personal experience its always a 50/50 on how much of a dream you can actually control , sometimes ive conjured an environment or a scenario within my dream that ive wanted but not been able to fully control the outcome of that scenario.

ive tried experimenting while lucid on different methods to attain full control and sometimes i can do whatever i like whereas other times i have limited control, so far the best method ( for me ) has basically while lucid to shut my eyes and shout that its my dream and i can do whatever i wanted - followed by shouting out what i actually did want to happen. Everyone has their own methods but if you get another shot its worth an effort. Good luck and congrats on your first lucid
