      Habits to manifest lucid dreaming

There was a time in my life where I was a successful lucid dreamer. Even if I didn't become lucid one night, I would wake up to recall several intense dreams. These are habits that I developed that led to me lucid dreaming.

      1) Keep a detailed dream diary and read it. This is perhaps the most important thing, as you will notice your dreams will start to have more detail and become more vivid.
      2) Wake up to go to the bathroom/get a drink a couple of hours before your actual wake up time.
      3) Go to bed early, get a lot of sleep
      4) As you fall asleep, remind yourself that you will dream and attempt lucidity
      5) After you have a good dream, get out of bed for the day if you want to retain the most of it

What kind of habits do you try to maintain for successful lucid dreaming?

I use some of yours too.

      1) I too keep a journal and read it from time to time
      2) Fortunately, i always wake up 2 to 3 hours before my waking time. It's like my body has an internal middle-of-the-night alarm clock
      3) I started doing a couple of weeks. I usually go to bed late.
      4) I do this by using the B-MILD technique.
      5) When i have a good dream, i write it down and go back to sleep to try another dream.

      Other habits of mine:
      6) Read books about lucid dreaming in bed when i go to sleep
      7) Read and participate in this kind of forums daily
      8) Write down my dream goals for tonight, read one of them and try it

I should give B-MILD a shot. Apparently, certain foods and supplements are said to fortify lucid dreaming (I have yet to try). Also, I have noticed smoking pot has an inhibitory effect on LDing.

      Also:
+ awareness during the day: don't walk through life zombie-like, or you'll be on autopilit in your dreams
+ Prospective memory (remembering to do things in the future without physical reminders like notes) exercises. Goes hand-in-hand with MILD, but helpful with all techniques. When you can remember to do things in the future in WL it will carry over into dreams and you can remember to notice that you're dreaming and become lucid. I just had my first lucid dream last Saturday and I became lucid by the thought "I'm dreaming" popping in to my head, just like remembering a WL prospective memory target.
+ regular sleep habits. I have the best recall when I go to sleep at the same time every night and get the same amount of sleep. When I was doing this consistently I was getting 3-4 wakings per night with 3-4 dreams per waking, lots of recall, it was really neat. With a less regular schedule now I have 1-2 wakings and recall less.
+ get exercise during the day so that you sleep well at night.
