      Dild Improvement

I think I could use improvement on my Dild. One time I did a realize I am dreaming because I did the nose reality check but it ended quickly. Since then, I have not done a reality check or even do my technique in my dream. I remember my dreams quite well know but I am worried about how long this will take. This is my technique: once an hour I go to an area in my house and look around and ask myself in my head if i am dreaming. I then try the finger through the palm and repeat two mantras which are I do reality checks as i dream and I lucid dream tonight. I then do the nose one and repeat the same two. I lastly count my fingers and say next i am dreaming, i look at my hands and realize i am dreaming. is there anything I could do improve this. Should I say this out loud or in my head?

For a Reality check to become most effective, the user must fully allow themselves to become aware of the fact that they actually DO NOT know if they are dreaming or if they are not.

Once they realize this, they perform the Reality Check (In waking life); showing them and demonstrating to them that they are not in a dream. This is the only way in our waking lives, to check manually to see if we are in a dream. If this has been done correctly, and frequently to induce a habit of doing so, the Reality Checks will then carry on to your dreams.

With a DILD, You will be dreaming normally, maybe think something is up and subconsciously begin to perform a Reality Check. After closing one eye and not being able to see your nose, you'd then snap into being lucid. Also, I suggest you get into the habit of doing more than one reality check, (2-3) Just so you know you have an arsenal of Reality Checking techniques to be able to go through the motions with, thus, allowing for a better chance of doing so subconsciously in a dream.

      Good Luck and happy dreaming!

You are already doing reality checks which is good. To boost your DILD chances, you can complement your current technique with others. All together, these techniques are called MILD.

      - WBTB
      - Goals. Imagine the things you'd like to do in lucid dreams. Write them down and daydream about them.
      - Dream signs. Identify recurring people, objects, or themes in your dreams. Look for them in waking and in dreaming, and when you notice them, perform a reality check.
      - Review and rehearse your dreams. Analyze your past dreams and notice the times when you think you could have become lucid. Recreate the dream in a daydream and rehearse what you should have done at the critical moment to become lucid.
      - Mantra. Create a phrase that you strongly associate with becoming lucid. Repeat when you do all the above things to reinforce the connection in your unconscious.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
