Question Not sure if reality check worked or not?

      Hi,

So is had a (lucid?)dream a while ago, and i am not really sure what happened.
For about a month I am doing reality checks in waking life. Inside the dream I had, a familiy member did something he would never really do. So I was questioning reality and did a reality check.
I closed my nose and tried to breath through. It was a weird feeling and i could kinda breath through it. So ofcourse i was getting exited. (This is also the first time something like this happened to me, i have never lucid dreamed before. So ofcourse the first thing i did was fly. But i didn't really feel the wind through my hair and it wasn't really realistic. (This is how i remember it).

When i woke up i didn't even think about what happened. Later that day i suddendly remember i had this dream and what happened, and was like "Shit did i have a lucid dream this morning?"

Basically it felt like a normal dream in which I did a reality check, and then flew around. Was it a normal dream in which the reality check didn't work, or did i just not remember the lucid dream. If i did not remember it is that why i didn't feel like it was a realistic lucid dream in which I was clearly conscious, and felt like it was a normal dream the next day?

      Thanks

The reality check did work, from what you said. I think the problem could be low awareness or sketchy dream recall. Did you stabilise the dream before doing anything?

I'm not sure what you mean by stabilizing, but i after the reality check i was constantly thinking: please don't wake up, don't wake up, and after about 5 seconds i thought nothing was gonna happen and i started flying. But i don't have the feeling i had full control, i mean ofcourse i had the idea to start flying, but not because i wanted to, but because that would be the first thing i would do if something like this would happen. Do you know what i mean? I didn't really think of the idea to start flying on purpose, it just popped up.

What do you mean with low awareness?

After reading your first post, I was gonna say, that it could have been lucid, or non-lucid. I was strongly leaning towards lucid though, because you already had some awareness which represented itself by you questioning your reality. And then this awareness gave you an urge to RC, which worked and confirmed that you are lucid.

If you have low awareness, your dream may not feel 100% realistic. Level of awareness in lucid dreams make your dream feel either closer to non-lucid, or super vivid, detailed and realistic, or anything in between.

Your second post, where you were saying "please don't wake up" tells me, that you were indeed lucid, since you knew that you are dreaming.

In a lucid, you can have any degree of control, or even none at all.

And yes, I understand why you flew. I got the urge to fly in my first lucid as well. And in 95% of all my lucids. Not sure why.

Here is a llink to tutorial about RCs, together with our basic induction tutorials. Induction Methods and Techniques Hope it will help you. Oh, and good job getting your lucid. Happy dreams

Oh, and yes, it could have felt more like regular dream, if you didn't wake up right after it.
