      Wink Any Encouragement?

So I'm one of those guys who really wants it, but am just too lazy to make the push, to get past the weeks of RC and journaling every day for weeks on end before success. I know it can lead me there, and I have tried to do it many times before, but it just doesn't work. Is there anything anyone here can tell me to help me make that push? Anything you can say to turn me into one of you? I've wanted this for so long and it's always just been inches out of my reach. Thanks for the consideration!

Hmmm... only you can make that leap. If we knew what to say to people to get them to quit quitting, we would post it all over this forum. I have threads on the things you need for lucidity, and there are others around here that lucid a lot as well, but I would simply say that it is something you have to go in wholeheartedly or you are wasting your time. I don't know if you are a commitment type or a rules type or a punishment type person, but you have to find some way to make LDing something that you want to do on a regular basis. Ever few months I really want to quit LDing. I can't even see a reason for doing it. I made a commitment to stick with it for 1 year though, and that is what I did. I have made another commitment for a year and I am on that now. Even if I want to quit, I don't. It is simply the way I do hobbies. I want to be the best. If you want to LD again, don't make some in dream goal your goal, simply make lucidity your goal until you get consistent. You should be able to get there if you stay consistent, but it is all on you. If you want it, do it. If you don't, then leave it alone forever.

If you want to get some encouragement, I don't know how to personally help with that front, since most of things would only really apply to me. (From the little I can offer, I would say something along the lines of "don't disappoint the people on the other side by forgetting their lives. Only you remember them. Only you know they ever were.")

I'd strongly recommend you read up on other people's accounts of lucid dreaming and see how it affects their lives. Some people report feeling jolts of power, confidence, awareness, etc. Others say it changed their lives for the better. Perhaps their positive experiences could better encourage you.

First of all, you shouldn't feel that you "must" record your dreams every time you wake up, this will just make it a chore.
Instead, tell yourself that you can record them if you feel that you really want to save a particularly fun dream.
You don't need to write down lots of details either, just a few keywords will usually allow you to remember the whole dream - of course, you might now always be able to recall every single detail from those dreams, but you will remember the main theme of the dream, and possibly some details as a bonus.

Personally I always feel really motivated by watching lucid dreaming-related videos, especially these ones:

Stephen LaBerge - Lucid Dreaming. Full Seminar 1998
      Learn lucid dreaming: part 1
Lucid Dreaming: How to Control Your Dreams (Part 1 of 2)
