I took a 2.5 hour walk today. A good deal of it was studying things in minute detail that I usually don't do (although I do maintain general awareness usually). I picked up and carried me with and looked at a bit of granite, a small pine cone. Watched a stream of snow melting water running down a sandy hill carrying little particles of sediment with it, and drops of water on pine needles. Was pretty neat to do.

Not too much different than I normally do, but a little bit of a strange approach.

I did this pretty deliberately yesterday for fifteen minutes, and tried to view everything for the rest of the day as a "new thing". Wasn't too bad, definitely a raise in awareness during waking, don't know if it transferred to dreams. Seemed like I was my normal fairly aware and vivid dreaming self. 3 epics and a couple normal dreams, pretty normal.

Oh I should note that I did have a good number of dreams last night after that walk. Not out of the ordinary for me but pretty good recall. I did have a short dream moment of walking outside in sunlight (probably 75% of my dreams are indoors) thinking about the weather, but that could have been just normal day residue. I also saw myself as if in a mirror, I think this was the first time I've ever seen my true, non-warped (but younger and clean shaved) face in a dream. I told my wife "I must have shaved without realizing it." I wondered at my young beautiful clean-shaved face, I thought I looked quite good .

Did it yesterday... Felt no change or anything. :/

5 LDs last night, but my dreams weren't nearly aware enough for it, I did a DEILD in the middle of the night and that raised my awareness for the rest of the night. (5 LDs in one night is normal for me. I normally have 7 LDs average a week, 4 nights of lucidity a week, obviously sometimes more, sometimes less).

Let me get this straight. The point of this exercise is to focus on something and watch it intently, as if not knowing what it is or what's it for, and trying to figure it out, but never reaching the point where it is known and understood. Then move to another object and do the same. Am I right?

Sort of... I think that may be taking it an extra step or two. Just look at something and be amazed by how real it seems. Look at how detailed it is as you explore it. Then move on and repeat.
