I always get results at first but it all dries up. Help.

Hello, I have been highly frustrated with Lucid dreaming after encountering it several years ago. Since then I have been going through this cycle of initial success for a week or two than nothing for weeks to months. I don't lessen my effort and I try new techniques but it always seems to dry up.
Over the last year I encountered SSILD and had the most powerful LD's of my life for a week. Then nothing. I've been doing it the same way that brought on the initial success and nothing is happening despite more memorable and meaningful dreams.

Has anyone encountered a pattern like this?

Do you stay persistent and stay with one technique for at least a month? Some techniques require more work than others and take longer to deliver the results you're looking for.

      Goals:
-Become Lucid in every dream every night
      -Perfect the time dilation watch
-Continue to have a dream plan for most of my lucid dreams

Have you considered that "change of routine" is what causes your lucidity, rather than it being a "good start, horrible pace" cycle?
Perhaps the change from one technique to another makes the "routine" new for your waking/dream self and this in itself triggers DILDs. In which case I would recommend a technique where you change routine every 2 weeks or so in order to maintain that feeling of novelty.

Also, as OneUpBoy said it also depends on how long you stick to each technique. While there is an initial good streak, for that to keep going (More like to regain it) you will need to stay with the technique for months to come, maybe longer depending on what exactly you are doing.

Personally, I feel like I want to master a main technique or two, rather than keep changing. I think part of this is some minor health issues which have been compromising sleep. It could also be from forgetting to set my intention to have lucid dreams for several minutes before going to sleep and when I next wake up. Somewhere I've heard someone post that they find SSILD much more effective when they spend 3-5 minutes repeating their intention to become lucid.

So which technique do you want to master? And which one do you believe is the best considering your own dreams?
