      Losing motivation

I have been trying to lucid dream for a year or so, but so far nothing. I keep a dream journal, and I write in it everyday.
I probably do 20 reality checks a day and constantly think of lucid dreaming.
But still, nothing. And it seems everyone else gets a lucid dream within a month or so.
      I guess I'm kinda losing motivation... >_<
Does anyone have any tips or advice? Frustrated.B

Hm trying for the whole year and nothing? Strange.
Alright, when do you go to bed? Do you sleep enough? Do you remember your dreams, I mean does your journal contain more than 2 dreams per day?
Take a look at this tutorial I made some time ago: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...t-mean-ld.html
      Might help.

There's always supplements. Galantamine is great, and actually works. Calea Z doesn't work even though people will fight me on that. I DARE YOU TO FIGHT ME IRL THO and then theres all sorts of minor ones. Also there are a lot of new ones out there like DreamLeaf. Do your research and find a reputable source. I like iherb's website for galantamind

Remee is an electronic aid, its a lucid dreaming eye mask. I would explain how it works but its basically a magic lucid dreaming mask, google it.

Of course WBTB is still the best

If you keep doing the same thing you're going to keep getting the same results. Try MILD, WILD, and/or DEILD. Do something different! Find what works.

Do you sleep the night through or have you already tried a method like WBTB? Like, waking up after 6 hours of sleep, staying awake for 30-50 minutes and going back to sleep?
Combining that with mantras for a MILD?
      Have you ever tried FILD?
      WILD?
      Meditation?

This poster speaks the truth, very astute observation. Definitely want to switch up your routine. I find that if you aren't too results-oriented its easier to keep motivation. Don't worry about dream recall or lucid dreaming, just work on the fundamentals and the results will naturally follow. Let the dreams come, don't give up on your dream journal but at the same time don't stress about recall, juts know that if you are journaling your dreams, keeping awareness and performing reality checks you will see progress. Progress is all you can hope for. Everything else comes after. Good luck and don't give up/

I have been in a similar situation to you, EnvisionReality.
What I did was actually stop and take a break. I was having trouble with REM atonia and was very busy during the day.
I basically stopped trying. I still thought about LD quite a bit, read a couple of books, but basically all I would do was RC and set my intentions before going to sleep, hoping that would result in a MILD.

Not much happened, but I got a lot more sleep and didn't have to worry about DJ etc.
Then a few months later I was at a garage, near my grandma's place. I checked the street sign, and the writing was all wrong, so I performed a RC, and guess what, I was LDing!
Now I'm getting back into it more systematically.
I think at the end of the day, LD should be a pleasure. One which requires work of course, but a pleasure nonetheless. When it becomes a chore or it frustrates us so much, the best thing to do is to take a break and come back to it refreshed!

Are you stressed out (school, family, friends, work, etc.)? Being stressed out...even if it is about wanting to get lucid can be a problem with you trying to get lucid. Try to do things that will allow you to relax and take some of the jaggedness off the edge.

Have you tried meditation (i.e., focusing on your breath)? Even if you can only meditate for a short period of time you will find your mental status improve by being able to quiet the 'mental noise' down and relax.

That's good enough. Hmm really strange. Try some other techniques also.
And remember that dreams are just in your head, you need to really believe that you will have a LD tonight. Some people are sometimes focusing too much on the stuff like RC etc but the miss the main point, that the purpose of all the techniques is to become lucid during night. Try more visualization etc.
