      Help with FILD technique

Well for the past 2 days I have tried the FILD technique about 4 times during this time and I really have trouble falling asleep. I am a light sleeper and tell myself to wake up at specific times in the night, when I get up I feel like I am not tired whatsoever, I try the FILD and since I know I'm a light sleeper I waited about 5 mins before doing reality check yet it doesn't work. Plus I've read comments all over everywhere about people not being able to stay awake!? Can someone please help me be able to fall asleep more easily? Thanks

Personally iv never tried a fild but ur best bet if you really want to LD this way is to starve yourself of sleep to the point when u know ur gonna fall to sleep quiet quickly then try it.im like you...it takes me a while to fall to sleep so if u wait it out till ur extremly tired then ur chances will be much higher i can imagin =)

Hey Brad, how are you going ?
First of all, FILD is a DEILD technique.. So you need to interupt your sleep to attain
As you should know we have 4 stages of sleeping and the REM sleep, in the 3º stage is where our dream starts and REM consolidates it
The base of DEILD is to interrupt REM or close to it, leaving you like a zombie xD hahahaha
When you wake close to REM you'll be really tired, like you could fall asleep in seconds. This is the perfect time to FILD.

You don't have to wait 5min to do a RC, when you start the technique you just have to clear your mind and only focus in the movement
don't count, don't think, just do... Slowing the pressure you make with your fingers little by little
after 10~20 seconds do a RC
if it didn't worked, don't start over. Wait sometime, clear your mind and if you don't fall asleep, do again.

But uncle JP, sometimes I woke and I'm not tired at all..
Well son, it means that you have awoken past REM, your body have completed the cicle BUT that doesn't mean your night is over
Our brain do this cicle at least 4 times per night and when a cicle completes you return to 2-3 stage of sleep
I, usualy, know this when I woke in the night feeling rested, this awoken state is like a placebo feeling and as soon as I go to bed my body will be tired again in no time
This way I just lie there thinkin' in nothing and waiting for my body to enter in "sleep mode" (when you're completely relaxed and your mind is slowly shuting off)
when it happens I just start doing the FILD technique

People could disagree with me on this, but I don't recomend you to wake yourself more than one time in night
LD is cool and awesome, but sleep well is more important and there's always another night ^^

FILD for me is the most effective technique to LD
When I do fild with success I feel a strange feeling, strange indeed
Like my body is tingly, because that's not my body anymore, is my dream body.
After that is just overpower and happiness xD hahahaha

i started trying to use FIELD and i didn't go straight into the lucid... but what i started noticing was when i fell asleep that i was way more success in DILD'ing especially if i used a mantra with it for like 30 seconds tap then just fall asleep without doing a reality check. I would go into a dream and then usually just spontatniously become lucid. I'v had it happen once where it was a transition straight into the dream lucid... but all the other times i just fall asleep and then realize i'm dreaming and become lucid. I know its not exactly how your supppose to do it but it has totally worked for me and made me twice as successfull as i was before.....

Well instead of waking up by telling myself to i put an alarm on for 2:30 (I decided to put an alarm on for 2:30 because I at least had a 30 minute dream, when I tried SSILD at about 2:00 last night) and i still woke up feeling not tired at all, I even waited trying to fall asleep until 3:10am. I didn't try after that because I realised I have walk-a-thon today. I'll try next week as I am holidaying this weekend in the country.

      Go for it Brad
If you keep experimenting with your alarm sooner or later you'll find out what is your usual REM hour!
