      Exclamation Trying the FILD technique, not working...

      So i am very very new to lucid dreaming (and this website).
      I have had lucid dreaming on my mind for a while now, maybe 2 years but never really tried it.
      The last couple of nights i have tried the FILD technique because i felt it would be the easiest.
      I have been putting an alarm on for abour 4-5 am and i slept through the first one but woke up for the rest.
      If i am too tired i just fall asleep straight away, otherwise i am not tired enough and can't fall asleep.
      I have tried the finger tapping but i fall asleep before i remember to do a RC.
      I have had one dream in the last few days and i remember it, it was weird but average and i didn't know i was dreaming, i thought it was real until i woke up.
      If you have any tips or anything for me please let me know as i am very keen to LD !!

      Sounds to me like you have to boost your recall first if you've only remembered one dream in the last few days. Get yourself up to 2 or 3 dreams a night, and then you'll be golden.

      Also, in the case of FILD. Everyone has a technique that works for them, usually derived from a lot of experimentation. You will have to play around with the "settings" of the technique until it works for you. FILD may not be the technique you want to use. I'd especially advise not to use a technique just because it seems the easiest, lucid dreaming often takes dedication and hard work. You will get out of it what you put in. Good luck!

      Any tips on how to boost my recall? Besides a journal because I have tried a journal and everytime I go to write it down I forget it straight away..
      Just abit of background history I don't usually remember dreams, between the past say 3 years I can only remember about 3..

      I don't think the fild technique is the one for me, I will still try it but do you have any other suggestions?
      Maybe the wild technique? But I don't really know how to do the wild technique haha im a total noob in lucid dreaming!!

      How many nights have you tried FILD? I've heard around the forums that you should try a method for at least a month before you give up on it. I suggest building a solid foundation to have DILDs first, then try methods after, or while you are setting up that foundation. Check out the DV Academy Intro Class and maybe you can get more help there. Try and keep a DJ again. It may help now. Also, be determined to remember your dreams. Come up with a mantra to help as well. Remember to do stuff in the present tense, like "I remember my dreams." then repeat that to yourself as you fall asleep.

      Something else you could try is WBTB. Set an alarm to wake you up between 4.5 - 6 hours, then stay up for a bit (varies on the person). After, go back to sleep. I find that when I WBTB, or just wake up for a bit, then go back to sleep (especially in the morning) I remember a dream.
