Hey there,
Very nice dream!
Our awareness in dreams tends to vary, from no awareness at all to wake-like (or more) awareness, with every possible step in between. It's not an all or nothing thing. Additionally, the various 'aspects' of our awareness in turn can also vary. For instance, you can have perfect waking memory, but have strange and absurd believes and make illogical choices in a dream, or vice versa, you can be able to reason perfectly, but have false memories, and so forth.
So what we call lucidity is actually some point in a continuum, and can likely vary quite a bit among dreamers. Personally, I'd call the above dream a lucid dream. Even though you weren't aware enough to fully free yourself from the dream plot, your awareness was considerably higher then in a regular dream, and you showed enough awareness to manipulate the dream to follow non-dream-plot goals (preventing the dream from ending).
Most of all though, I'd call it a great dream to be remembered
