Beeing Mindfull/practice for Lucidity while Drunk or High?

      Hey there,
i have a question for you people.

Every now and then there are evenings on weekends or something where one wants to party and get drunk or high. Sometimes then everything seems more dreamlike and more weird moments occure.

Do a some RC and be mindful? Or dont waste the time with this and just enjoy your time because you wont learn anything during this intoxicated state of mind? Or do you think its still practice that might raise the chances to get lucid int the following nights?

Interesting thought. Here's what I do.

I observe the difference and the change in my state of mind and behaviour in order to learn from it.

While other people usually experience states of mind without paying attention, you can observe it and learn from it.

Just like thoughts, dreams, daily experiences in general, the way you handle your work and basically every moment of your life, these moments of intoxicated mind experiences can also become valuable when you watch it as a quiet observer.

To become conscious of the consequence of your actions ask yourself questions such as:

      - What am I feeling?
      - Is this action promoting awareness, well-being or my direction in life?
      - If it doesn't why am I choosing this action and what can I change?

      Peace!

I agree that in times it is a valuable lesson to observe and reflect ones behavior in altered states but in my op i dont mean any "waking life" benefits but exclusively the benefits for your lucid dreaming skills.

Oh of course, got a little carried away by my mind's love for mindsets for general self-help.

Autopilot and unconsciousness is what we are engaged in when we are dreaming, so to get drunk is probably a good way to get a sense of what that feeling is like.
But the very act of becoming aware of your own state of mind in the moment, the motivations of your action and not being on autopilot but using your own will, I believe is a crucial characteristic of a lucid dreamer.
